This. If you don't do that, you spend the next couple of days trying to find where the cleaning lady put half your shite

That and I'm not paying for her to pick up after my wife and child. I'm paying her to CLEAN shite.

Had an ex-wife that did this. Well, actually, she would expect me to do this every other Sunday afternoon "because the maid is coming tomorrow." This happened for about 4 months until it finally broke the camel's back and we split.

Wait, did you just say you got divorced over this?

Us OT ballers don't have a cleaning lady, we have a live in maid that cleans our house every day.

Most people having clean ladies to do the stuff they really don't want to do like clean toilets and bathrooms, dusting, mopping, sweeping and cleaning the kitchen really good. Leave the clothes and washing to me.

Those are just sitting around on the counter?

Rinse those MFers out and put them in the dishwasher when you're done with them.

Why?

So the cleaning lady can clean more effectively and she doesn't trash your old lady's rep around town.

The cleaning lady comes in to do shite like dust, vacuum, mop, clean the baseboards, clean the toilets; the deep-clean shite. She's not there to pick up you dirty clothes, put away your kids toys, wash your dishes, etc. Those are much, much more expensive.

When my ex and I moved out of our apartment, we had to pay a cleaning fee - $75 or something like that. My ex insisted that we clean the apartment. Not just a quick once over, but full blown several hours of detailed cleaning. She said she didn't want the apartment manager or cleaning crew to think we weren't clean people. Why she would care what complete strangers think - especially when their purpose of showing up is to do a job that you already paid for... you are correct, it makes no sense.

Fair enough. I knew that was extortion but I wasn't sure to what extent.

No, divorce was based on many things, this was just something that added to the aggravation that the bitch caused.

I'm only paying them for X hours and don't want them wasting my money doing the easy stuff. We hit that ourselves so the hired help can do the nasty shite that nobody else wants to do.

Trying to get shite off the floor because I dont want to not be able to find something because our idiot cleaning ladies put my shoes in the kids' closet

ETA: basically I just dont trust them to do anything that includes putting something in its proper place. they're cleaning ladies, I assume their skill set is limited other than change sheets, make beds, clean floors, counters, bathrooms, etc...

This is the correct answer

A good friend owned a cleaning service. The house cleaners on Doctors row speak of how the doctors wives will put a cheerio in the back of the toilet to see if the maid (cleaning person) catches it as proof she cleaned. They also say their homes are spotless so they wonder if the wife pays a maid to come in before the maid. The wives also clock how long the maids are in each of the homes in the circle. Whoever's maid is their the longest gets great shame at the country club luncheon and debutantes balls.

I think they charge extra only for pack rat type of cleaning.

This reminds me of people who wash the dishes before they put them in the dishwasher
