Me and my wife don't have a cleaning lady, but I understand the sentiment behind tidying up the house beforehand (picking shite up off the floor, making beds, etc.).

My perception of the cleaning people's job is to dust, mop, scrub, etc. and make things nice and shiny. Tidying up beforehand helps get the easy stuff out of the way, so they can focus on the more necessary things.

Plus, I'd feel like a shmuck making a stranger pick my dirty clothes up off the floor.

They're cleaning your house. At least let them retain some semblance of dignity.

Growing up I hated the exterminator. That SOB's arrival each month meant my room had to be spotless.

What's the average cost for a cleaning lady? We have a 1,700 sq ft house in NOLA and some lady tried charging us $260/mo for every other week.

This. If you don't do that, you spend the next couple of days trying to find where the cleaning lady put half your shite.

Hell yea....shoes are the worst. It never fails that my Sperry's and my Nike's are always with my wife's side with her shoes when the cleaning lady comes.

Recently she started putting a pair of my wife's shoes on my side.....I'm not sure what normal person would think that a married man (to a woman) would wear shoes like that. I mean even a gay married man wouldn't because it would out him as gay

She comes to the house to do specific things, like floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and dusting. Picking up the 395847362 things my 2 year old leaves laying around isn't part of the deal.

You pick up all that stuff so the cleaning lady can do what she needs to without interruption.

You don't clean so much as you pick up.

We pay like half that, and my house is a good bit bigger (not meant as a not-so-subtle brag - purely for info purposes).

I ain't giving you her name, though.

Why?

That makes no sense.

I think some trashy oter makes this same post twice a year.

As has been stated, you spend a little time on the easy stuff that you don't mind so the cleaning lady can spend her time on the shite you hate.

we have a cleaning lady, we do our day to day cleaning, I'm not paying her to pick up the kid's toys/dirty clothes etc etc, nor am I too lazy to do those things myself. We pay her to do the real cleaning, Floors, windows, polishing the silver, etc etc.

This is what my wife says. I say that if she did that everyday, we wouldnt need a lady to come do the cleaning.

Ours only comes 2 times a month, and she seems to do a good job.

lol at you fools who don't think the cleaning lady knows where everything belongs. She's done been through your shite at least 3 times. But they pre-clean so the maid don't tell everyone how nasty they are. To me it's like prewashing dishes before putting them in a dishwasher. SMH. Dont be a slob. Clean up after yourself and you won't need to pre-clean

Cleaning lady gets $20 an hour cash, so I told my wife I don't want her spending time picking up and folding clothes, or organizing our junk. I want her dusting, mopping, etc. So I get the kids to pick up their stuff and we wash clothes and fold almost everyday. If we didn't do this, she would spend all her time picking up clutter and not cleaning.

Our cleaning lady is for doing the deep cleaning type stuff like mopping the floors, cleaning the bathrooms, baseboards, etc... We don't want her spending her time picking up all of our stuff when we want her to focus on the real dirty work.
