Some things just don’t translate well to the metric system.

These are akin to Shower Thoughts:

“Come and walk 1.609 kilometers in my shoes.”

“28.3 grams of prevention is better than 453 grams of cure.”

“That hit me like 907 kilograms of bricks.”

“She still thinks this is 15.2 centimeters.”

It’s been nearly 90 years since A&M won a natty — well, that simply can’t convert but it’s still sad.

I once saw it described as, metric system is for science, imperial system is for people.

You can go from length to volume to weight without changing anything but the decimal place and unit. Metric is a superior system.

Metric does have a “ton.” It can also be spelled”tonne.” The total weight isn’t equal, but it wouldn’t change the idiom.
