They gave her one of the harder games to win that car on too.

Ya there's an article somewhere stating that the vast majority of folks never take the prizes home from that show.
So what you're really watching is the high before the fall.

I had no idea TPIR is giving away Aston Martins.
Last time I watched it, it was like Mustangs and KIAs.

I'm not sure if they let you sell it before paying the tax.
99% sure you can't do this.

That is bad arse. Wouldn't mind having one of those parked in my garage.
This is my ex's friend who won a cool 140k. Just got married and lives in England somewhere.
And my cousins friend won both showcases when he was on there a few years back.

i imagine the odds of her ever claiming that car are about 10-15%
would they have to pay just sales tax or also pay 40% tax like it was a bonus?

"Congrats! You just won a car that you'll never be able to get!!!"
She's also apparently a resident of California, so she's really going to get screwed.
To take possession of the car, she would need to pay about $50,000. Then she would have to find a buyer after she depreciated it by driving it for a couple days. She'd profit somewhere around $50,000-$60,000, but then have to pay income tax on that.
Quite possibly could walk away with $25,000-$30,000 clear after everyone gets their share. Criminal.

You have to pay tax on that. She will have to sell it for sure to pay the tax if she is even able to claim it. I'm not sure if they let you sell it before paying the tax.
And then she'll likely have to pay the tax on the profit she makes by selling it. I guess I don't know for sure in CA, but I'd bet that's the case.
And yet so many dumbfricks in the country want to go full retard into this; Bernie Sanders !

I'd much rather just win cash straight up. Even if they take 40% off the top, better than dealing with the hassle of the goods.

I would find someone to buy it for the taxes plus 50% and walk away with cash.

They should have a hidden camera show where they film the contestant back stage talking to the show accountant when she learns of all of the taxes, etc.
Would probably bring in better ratings than the actual Price is Right.

I know a guy who won a Audi or something similar at a NY rangers game. It was actually a lease but I think the owner got guilted into actually giving it to him. He made a shot from the half line into a goal a couple of inches wider than the puck

Damn, why is that your reaction? Jealousy isn't a good color on you.
Good for her. Personally, I'd get a loan for the taxes and sell the car.
