Soldier killed in helicopter crash denied Arlington Cemetery burial

My thoughts are Arlington is correct can't appease everyone, follow the rules in place. If they give the exception to policy pretty soon a flood of NG people who have never done anything at all resembling military service will abuse the system. (Not saying this was the case with TC)
Interesting subject since it's so close to home.

Arlington doesn't have a ton of space. These rules are necessary.

There's a BRAND NEW Military Cemetery in Slidell that has PLENTY of room I'm sure.
I can see if he was a decorated soldier with many medals and deserved the honor of being in Arlington (not trying to take anything away from the deceased at all!) but also, why would the family want him to be buried so far away from their home?

Rules are rules hell I could be buried there but have already signed up for Spanish fort. Great looking cemetery close to home.

I agree. It sucks for his family, but the ruling seems right to me.

Don't they have ww ii vets buried there who died long after the war? They weren't active duty at the time of death.

Certain vets who didn't die in battle can be buried in Arlington. But they are highly decorated

I agree with the ruling. Guy was never even deployed.
