He really showed how great our country is. Was able to travel and show most Americans how kind and generous we are. Hard for an American to do similar because of how polarizing it is and it took someone from another country to illustrate it.

He also dispelled notions that presses around the world spout how dangerous we are. He is one of millions who came to America under impression they’d be victims, and they all left with amazement and will be great ambassadors in their home countries.

What makes this connect is its not coming from anyone embedded in our society or chasing money, it’s from an outsider expressing his feelings via travels on back roads. He always covered up his and friends faces and even shut down his social media for a brief time as haters tried to cancel and doxx him. Came back when he realized that was a fringe element of society and people enjoyed his travels and posts.

Needs to be a case study and TV special on his travels and experiences. He saw half the states mostly by car on back roads. He visited the White House in his last few days, how cool is that!

——-

So long, America

49 days ago we landed in the USA to follow our country at the World Cup. We had no idea it would turn into the trip of a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who followed along, and to all the people we met who made this journey even more special. We honestly don’t have the words to express how grateful we are for everything you did for us.

This trip exceeded every expectation we had. We came here with an open mind, wanting to experience as much of the country as possible. I still remember telling my friends on the flight to Atlanta that I hoped we’d get to meet a few locals on this trip. Now we’re flying home with friends all across the USA.

Before we came, we heard so many stereotypes and warnings about America. People told us about safety concerns, that they might check our social media at the border, and all kinds of other things. None of it matched our experience. This was probably the most welcoming country we’ve ever visited.

So if you have the chance to travel, do it. The world isn’t nearly as bad as the media often makes it seem. 99% of people are awesome!

I heard this quote somewhere during the World Cup, and I think it sums up our experience perfectly:

“If you want to hate the world, watch the news. If you want to love it, travel it.”

Thank you, America

There’s so much more to America than its big cities, and it’s a joy to see our country through a foreigner’s sympathetic eyes. Thanks to Nick Adams, the President’s @SpecEnvTourism, I had the privilege of welcoming Freddy and his companions to the @StateDept to express my own appreciation. And yes their heads actually do look like that!

What an amazing experience that Guy had, enjoyed all of the posts, and all of the attention he got from major celebrities.

Pretty sad that he had to sign off social media for a little bit because of all of the assholes and mean shite people were saying.

I know it’s cliché to say somebody had the “experience of a lifetime”….. But this is truly the new gold standard for that.

You can see that on this board. If you strictly read on here you would think that as soon as you enter Baton Rouge your life is in grave danger, and you'll be lucky to make it out alive.

Yep. Travel is an elixir for anyone fortunate enough to be able to do it. Cures you of fear of the unknown.

Guessing he's some kind of a 'trust fund' kid or something. Not many have the ability to take 49 days away in another country. Maybe if retired with a hefty 401K/IRA. Not mad, just saying...

He’s in college and saved for over a year. Said it cost him $6k because he used cheap hotels and ate fast food vs dining. You might be one of those toxic people he talked about
