On the porch of our house growing up there was a bench that ran the length of the porch with a railing at the end and a drop-off to the ground after that.

I liked to run down the bench and jump to the railing and launch myself out and up over the ground. Stunts.

So one attempt my foot accidentally touched down before the railing and I ended up flying over the railing like Superman.

Hit the ground face first, then chest, then legs. My eye was 3 inches away from a pointy stick.

I stayed on the ground a few minutes and assessed by digits and limbs. Hopped up fine.

Never tried that stunt again.

I flipped a ford pinto back in 1980. Hit a stump that stopped me from sliding into the bayou....that would have been it...

Friend was driving on our senior trip. Another car caused us to fishtail on a highway, turned the car around and went backwards into a ditch probably around 45 mph and flipped. Completely demolished the car and had to crawl out a window.

Thankfully all I got was some blood on me crawling out on broken glass and poison ivy from the side of the highway.

Stayed up all night drinking once and went wade fishing the next day in 100 degree heat, was about 300 yards from the shore in waist deep water and started having a heat stroke.

Buddies were spread out all over and couldn't tell I was in trouble.

Don't know how I got out, damn near passed out 4-5 times

My first time kayaking the Upper Gauley, I went into "the room" which is upstream of pillow rock, directly to the rafts left in your pic. I did a few inadvertent "rodeo moves", but got flushed out and rolled at the bottom.

I was wigging out

I have died before so.

Born dead, no breathing, no pulse, no nothing.

Brought me back, spent some time in the ICU and I'm here now.

I've rafted that river with that same company.

I rode shotgun into the Class IV that they intentionally try to flip the raft in. I thought I was going to drown, spinning out of control under water is a weird sensation. Popped up over 200 yards down river near the eddy where all the other rafts hang in line waiting their turn.

For those who haven't been. There is a Class IV/V that you come through and on the other side there is a massive eddy (calm pool off to the side). The guiding companies all paddle over into that eddy and line up facing up river. One at a time you paddle up river as fast as you can back into the rapid. The raft almost always goes under, flips, and tosses all riders. You spin around under water uncontrollably until you all pop up downstream right on the eddy. The rafts in line pick you up and you are then transferred back to your recovered raft and head down stream.

I almost choked on bacon when I was about 10. Shoved it in my mouth running out of the door for school since my mom was screaming that we were late.

I was on a swingset at about 8 years old and twisted the chains to spin around. Well when I let go it wrapped around my neck.

I fell in a pond at a park at around 3 and almost drowned.

Drank so much one night in college, can't believe I didn't die.

One inch cable snapped, sliced just the tip of my nose.

Multiple flipping wrecks. One bad enough to make me an inch shorter.

Alcohol poisoning from everclear and red bull.

24in diameter log swung into my chest when one end swung free.

Had a pipe stand fall on me.

Kid pulled a gun on me to rob me. Thankfully it was unloaded.

Faux baud tried to rob me at knifepoint.

Fence post through my windshield.

Caught fire 4th of July 2004.

2 ricochets to the chest in highschool.

I am effectively immortal.

Apparently when I was a baby, I was in my crib in my parents room. It was chilly that night so my parents removed me from the crib and brought me into the living room where the fireplace was.

Minutes later, a guy that was driving on our street had a heart attack, lost control of his vehicle, and crashed into our house, through my parent's room, and demolished my crib. This is all according to my parents.

An 18-wheeler ran me off of i-10 west between Beaumont and Houston. Just changed lanes as I was passing him on the left. Slammed my horn, flashed my brights, and swerved into the shoulder. It wasn't really that close to death because I did have a shoulder, but it disappeared a couple hundred yards ahead, so there's that.

I was more shocked and angry than worried. But not my ex. She called me in hysterics, thinking I was dead (she was a little ways ahead of me and saw me go off the road into the shoulder).

My grandmother, mother, and uncle came close to dying once. Gas or CO2 or something was flooding their house when my grandfather got home. Grandmother was unresponsive. Pretty sure the story goes he threw stuff through the windows, grabbed the kids, then got my grandmother to safety.

Another time diving off Barbados, almost got rip tided out to sea.

Another time driving on I-110 in Biloxi. A feller decides to suicide by car wreck by driving the wrong way up a exit ramp and heading into oncoming traffic. I (luckily for me) had a little import car and he chose the F-150 slightly behind me in the other lane to face-up to. He died as well as the two occupants of the pick-up.

I can still see his face as he passed me....
