A high-tech driving range is being planned for a plot of riverfront land controlled by the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, posing a direct challenge to a rival range set to open at the former Times-Picayune building site about three miles away.

Topgolf is aiming to build a new driving range and entertainment complex on a nearly 9-acre site abutting Tchoupitoulas and Euterpe streets on the upriver side of the Crescent City Connection, according to documents posted Monday by the board that runs the Convention Center.

I bet they are paying a shitload of money for that property. I always thought the large property across the street would be a perfect location for an eventual Superdome replacement.

The fence at the one in Baton Rouge is ridiculously high. I know it needs to be, but it's still funny every time I see it.

Welp, the other one that decided to build in the ghetto might as well shut it down.

I have seen employees fishing golf balls out of the water ditch on the other side of that fence.

So, maybe not high enough.

Sooner or later the Saints WILL have to consider a new venue, you would hope the powers that be would be at least looking at 'locking up' potential sites like this....FAR in advance !

Why? You think convention goers in NOLA CBD were driving to BR to play top golf?

It's a pretty popular. My kid went to a birthday party there a few weeks ago and we had a hard time finding a parking spot. The food is actually pretty decent for that type of place too.

Had a run in with the manager at the one in Baton Rouge. Terrible customer service.

I would honestly be fine with the Saints moving somewhere temporarily for a year or two if it meant they tear down and rebuild at the current location or just completely gut and redo the current dome. You cannot get a better location in terms of proximity to hotels/FQ coupled with easy in and out with 1-10 and 90 right there. Would be a fricking nightmare getting in and out if it was at the river.
