I was unfortunately born there so I have a sick bipolar disorder with the city but I don't get why anyone else would have any desire to live there.

I know this house really well. Like most Bywater doubles it smells like mildew and your grandmothers bathroom. $500k for some cultured kid who just graduated from some liberal arts school in the north east is nothing though.

they must be waiting on the hospital to open,

Very much this, I believe. The average salary the hospital is said to employ is ~90k. Developers already know this, what with Elk144, South Market district, the Pythian, and something in the works in the old O&G building coming online. Private single homes, or in this case a double, should have this built into the price. Its still nuts doe.

only thing i can think of. I can count 5 people off the top of my head who bought lots for 60-80 in LV in the past two years
No way. I bought mine over 2 years ago and the lowest prices were about 100K in West Lakeview.

Scruffy's house is twice as big, has a yard, a garage, no traffic, people won't rape/murder him when he walks outside, and cost 1/3 of that.

It is also in Shreveport.

All positives, IMO

i wont get into a dick measuring contest ans say you're wrong culture blah blah blah.... ill just say i deal with a lot of people in this city everyday and run into very few who do not enjoy the life here. most with kids too. if you desire to live in houston and thats what you want, great. i hated houston and could never live there again. but im not on here saying "frick houston it sucks blah blah blah blah" nb4 he did houston wrong

Compared to what? Nice parts of Shreveport vs, nice parts of, for example, Baton Rouge?

Sure there are small areas that will average over 3 million but in pretty much any city, other than NYC, if the neighborhood you live in AVERAGES over 3 mil per residence you are pretty much in the best neighborhood.
