So the uninsured ahole who ran a red light and hit me...

has now lawyered up.
The cops wrote a bullshite report and didn’t assign fault. They didn’t bother talking to the eyewitness. Now I’m about to be sued.
Yeah, I do this for a living and nothing should surprise me. But I’m really hating humanity right now, because I am the one being victimized. fricking liars on all sides. My profession is a cesspool.

I thought that you had no recourse if you didn't have insurance? Maybe I'm remembering some other scenario

In LA there’s the “no pay, no play” law that exempts you and your insurance from having to pay the other party the amount equal to state minimum liability (15-30-25 currently). But if he sues for a higher amount, OP could end up being liable for the amount above state minimum liability.

Did you try to go talk to the chief of police? Seriously, see if you can get in to talk to the chief and explain... He might be willing to change the report..
