They probably didn’t cut it down when they were clearing the area because it was the tree and cut it down because someone said, hey that’s nice and all but we really need to area cleared.

What's the BFD? It's one tree among many. Who cares (Other than those personally connected).

I thought we cherished live oaks in these parts?

Perhaps they needed special permission to remove a live oak because of some tree huggers, and finally got it. Or they needed additional equipment to haul out the big oak. Since, as you said, everything else was a bunch of trash trees.

Was it a blackwood tree?

I need to know the species involved before I answer

A little like the statues that people had to have torn down?
People rationalize the dumbest things and they never make a real difference. More at 11

“This could be said about 95% of politicians”

Absolutely correct, and is part of the huge problem with government. Look at Pedo Joe alone. Him and his son are train wrecks.

Doing his job was not a problem for him. It was the other stuff that took over.

Sorry for your loss. Suicide is a different beast and that could be seen as a place filled with the ultimate darkness for what took place there.

Not necessarily. IDK about Belle Chase, but even in unincorporated Jefferson Parish there are all sorts of rules about removing a tree. If it's a trash tree (like a Bradford Pear) I think you're allowed to remove it without special permission, but if you do that with a Live Oak you're likely to incur a fine.
