They apparently don’t have lockers at my kid’s middle school. That is super WTF to me, but I guess it solves this problem. All the kids have to carry everything around all day. Lunch, gym clothes, laptops, etc

My daughter doesn't have a locker either in the 7th grade. They don't have as many books as we used to though. They do a lot on their iPads now.

Come on dad, make it happen

Same for mine. I think most is done on their chrome books. Somehow, her backpack still weighs a ton. I swear she’s got rocks hiding in there.

I bet if you didn’t have broken home kids she’d have a decorated locker

Buy the magnetic wallpaper and pre-cut from home. Cutting there is a nightmare. And, yes, the locker decoration trend is bullshite.

I was just happy to have a top locker 3 out of the 4 years..
That's all it took to make me happy back in the day, and it was my son's only concern this year.

MY daughter is the same age and same grade. All the girls do it and their mom’s help, mine included. It’s one of those girly things girls love that we’ll never understand. Just let them do their thing and don’t try to worry about or understand it.

Happened at my daughter's school too. my biggest peeve about the whole thing was several mom's got on FB to say there shouldn't be locker decorating, then those same damn moms went overboard like the pic in the OP.

You know some clueless mom is going to surprise her son with a decorated locker. Imagine the look on his face when he opens the door to the fabulousness within.

The real story here is you sending an 11yr old to school with crayons, CAD.

Stand your ground. Explain to her that those parents do this as 1. a pathetic attempt to keep up with the Joneses because the have low self-worth 2. are shitty parents and are attempting to gain favor with the child.

Then explain that you, one of the greatest parents ever, care about her far too much to demean her by putting up materialistic CRAP in her locker. Especially when there are people out there that don't have a roof over their head or food to eat.

That should shut down the water works.

Next thing you know school staff can’t search lockers because they’re “private property” with all this decorating bs.

While on the surface I agree with you.

This is what changes everything. She is a young girl and other girls are mean as shite. Even if she doesn't really care other girls will make a big about her locker not being swagged out.

Any girl I knew in middle school would have been mortified if their folks came into our locker hall. Much less with this shite. What is our world coming to!?! You thirty year old moms need to calm down.

Apparently it gets worse.

Friend of mine spent 3K for a decorator to trick out his daughters freshman dorm room.

I literally went to college with A single suitcase, A comforter, a Backpack of school supplies, and a wm bag of toiletries. Im so confused

My 6th grader has a locker but doesn’t really use it.

All of their books are preloaded in their school issued MacBook. They just carry their back pack from class to class.
