This seems like a very business friendly tactic.

Hell, I'm just glad they match something. There are bigger things to be pissed about and I'm happy with the flexibility I'm given. No need for me to fight that battle. I was just pointing out that other companies do similar crap.

That's not the problem, that's not unheard of

Our deposit gets put in within 30 days but the match goes in at the end of the yr.

The employee contribution is where the problem comes in. They withheld that money and did not deposit it apparently since July, that's a big no no

so tell her to broaden her skill set and find a new job. Employment isn't compulsory. People who complain about shite jobs or shite bosses are usually undesirable hires for anything better thus leading to their frustration.

have know way of knowing but I'm sure a lot of owners/CEOs/comptrollers will take whatever leeway they think they have to skimp, I work for a pretty big outfit, and our corporate climate/ideology has changed over time, but some of our employees were among the first victims on 9/11, our company initially was withholding death benefits, hell, all benefits, from the families of the victims, at a time they were desperately needed, telling them that they needed death certificates as proof, the only way they budged was when employee groups representing those families went to CNN

And that kind of leadership is how the once proud American Airlines is now run by the guy who used to helm America West (and the brains behind that operation are now at United).

Though I would say most airlines in the late 90s and early 00s save for Southwest had absolutely terrible employee relationships.

product of deregulation, goes back a little further, the very real pilot shortage is a product of that type of "leadership" as well, pilots are being paid more than ever, and will be for some time as a result of pricing a generation of kids out of the profession

Yep. Opportunity cost lost. If not criminal than definitely civil.

She needs to call the Department of Labor immediately.

What they are doing with the 401k contributions is illegal.

ETA: deferrals I mean.

First thing in my head is hat this is an ERISA violation. She confronted her employer about this and he basically told her that if she liked her job , she needed to calm down about all of this and that their lawyer told them his was all OK that so long as they pay the full amount prior to the anniversary of the open enrollment period that they were on solid ground. The employees called the AG office and apparently the AG said that there was nothing they could do.

Wanna know why people leave Louisiana and businesses don't want to come here?????

Something isn't adding up. I feel like we may not have all of the information. I also don't know if the Attorney General is who they should call. They should call an attorney that specializes in Employee / Employers.

There are deadlines that they aren't meeting that could disallow the entire plan.

But I still don't know what this has to do with Louisiana specifically.

Calling the AG in any state won't really do shite. It's a federal thing. They have to call the DOL.

ERISA is a federal law, not a state law. If she wants to call someone, she needs to call the US Department of Labor. They can give her advice.

But nice try knocking LA. By the way, this shite happens all over the place.
