So it sounds like some people aren't too happy with Elon Musk and his Starlink Satellites.

The costly collateral damage from Elon Musk's Starlink satellite fleet
then theres the astro-photographers/physcists. the sat trails interfere with their images.

The aim is to create a satellite network called Starlink. If Musk has his way, by 2025 no less than 11,943 of his satellites will circle the Earth, and if permission is granted, the ultimate result would be a staggering 42,000. This mind-boggling number must be compared to the 8,000 satellites sent into orbit since the Soviet Sputnik, of which 2,218 are still in operation. Why such outsized ambitions? To implement his dream of a "multiplanetary" society, and to fund it by providing all (solvent) Earthlings with high-speed Internet access.

We can't give internet access to poor people in rural areas of 3rd world countries because astrophysists will have a slightly harder time looking through telescopes

You ever looked at saturn through a telescope? It's badass.

Going to be tough to leave the planet after we’ve trapped ourselves within an orbiting minefield of debris falling around the planet at 17,000 mph.

We shouldn't be crowding space. There's not much room up there.

Nope, but I've seen Uranus

I can only assume this has HUGE military implications, or the gov't wouldn't allow this to happen.

It is all about Mars. These satellite will allow him to communicate with Mars and not have to go through the FCC

I understand NASA tracks all this stuff but seriously, is that many satellites a problem?

theres about 197 million square miles on earth
if you took 40,000 people and spaced them out evenly, you'd have around 1 person per 5000 square miles
Now replace earth with orbital area, and people with satellites. It will be just fine

Space is big? Shocker...

On Rogans last podcast with Elon he asked him about people complaining.
He laughed it off and said they have a hard enough time finding them in space. And that the "experts" havent complained to him about it. So he did seem to give a shite if the average person has an issue trying to see the moon

There are far more than 8,000 satellites.
Iridium alone has almost 700.

They're just grasping at anything to stop Starlink.
quote:
On March 9, 2020, Elon Musk claimed that thanks to Starlink, anybody "will be able to watch high-def movies, play video games and do all the things they want to do without noticing speed". Thus, Musk explicitly underlines his wish to reinforce already massively energy-guzzling digital activities, such as video streaming and online video games.
quote:
Musk's declaration ends on an ominous note, in essence saying "My clients will be able to do whatever they want, just as I am able to do whatever I want".

NASA was tracking 500,000 pieces of orbital debris 8 years ago.
Better get the math and timing right.

Imagine thinking people having freedom is "ominous".

If an experts said anything he'd start calling them pedos like he did that guy who rightly called him out for his idiotic submarine when those kids in the cave needed to be rescued.

He’s clearly Illuminati new world order working in tandem with Gates and his microchip to conquer the human race.

I imagine space looks something like a high tech version of an Alabama trailer park. Junk strewn everywhere

The sats are designed to fall out of orbit and burnup after their useful life
