Society IN GENERAL is trending towards a certain way of thinking. There are still some realistic girls out there.

Do you any evidence for this besides some kids in the internet saying it a bunch?

It just seems the stereotype describes marriages 50 years ago moreso than marriages today.

Are men really marrying women they don't match well with and then staying in miserable, naggy marriages?

thank you for your anecdotal evidence; we can now end the discussion

I dated a girl whose parents never fought in front of her and her brother. She would always say how her parents had the perfect marriage. I told her she's naive to think they never fight.

Well, after she graduated college, her parents filed for divorce. They waited so it wouldn't affect her school. Her father was having anonymous gay sex behind her mom's back.

That may be the saddest thing I've ever read on here.

Besides being in the field living it out in person and seeing it in my friend's and acquaintances relationships? no, none at all.

For example, just last week, my best friend's girlfriend broke up with him because he wasn't "seeing her enough". He works 5-10's in a plant and was still spending every weekend day and several of the days during the week with her in addition to buying her everything she wanted and treating her like a queen.

It's a perfect caricature of what's wrong with 20 something's these days.

So is this how O-T men see modern marriage? by SEClintNow that I'm older and have dodged a few close to marriage bullets, I don't know if I want to. I like sluts and whores and strippers too much. I see people married with kids and it seems as if their lives are over and they have to trick themselves into hating things that they enjoy doing, because they don't get to anymore.

Well I'm 32, have dodged the bullet once, and am 100% in the same boat. I don't really have some burning desire to get married, and can't think of the last girl I dated whom I honestly though (I think we should be together long-term).

But I want legitimate children and societal respectability. I honestly don't have a whole lot of patience with young women (or most for that matter) and think I'd probably make a pretty shitty husband. We'll see how it works out.

Maybe she'd rather see him than him spend money on her. Crazy concept. I see nothing wrong with that.

You know, I wonder if the wife in that picture works? A relationship where both mom and dad works is extremely more stable than a relationship where just the husband works.

Probably because he realizes how childish the stereotype of all men being miserable in marriage is.

And where was this ever said? And didn't you cheat on a poster you met on a social media site?

He wasn't buying her lavish gifts, he was spending time with her and taking her out to extremely nice dinners at least once a week. He saw her plenty. Can you not read? He saw her several times a week.
