WAFB’s team blows everyone else out of the water and it’s not really close. Why anyone would watch WBRZ mystifies me, unless they are entertained by how drunk Shingleton is. I listen to Bobby Hebert on WWL for my on-air drunk fix.

She wasn't good looking 30 years ago and hasn't gotten better with age. But hey whatever floats your boat buddy.

Yeah I watch WAFB. WBRZ sucks at news in general. But no matter what I don't hang on to every word they say. The weather is like predicting football games. You can have all the numbers and all signs point to one team being another team by at least a certain amount of points, but once they get on the field, things can change as the situation of the game changes.

I have no idea about the BR ones, but in NOLA it's David Bernard #1 and everyone else is wasaaay behind now that Carl is retired. Carl was probably 1A.

Based on talent I'd say #2 is Bruce Katz but he's stuck on the bench at Fox 8.

Bob Breck got lucky once and ever since thought he was God.

Did Pat Shingleton ever finally retire? Growing up, my old man watched Mike Graham and thought Shingleton was a clown.

I don’t really have a particular favorite in New Orleans now. Margaret Orr is the most insufferable. The rest are meh.

Carl Arredondo was ok but he did not have a degree in meteorology. He had a degree in weather communications from the same university I attended. Jay Grymes doesn’t have a meteorology degree but was recruited by mike graham and WAFB in 1996 because graham wanted to retire. They could not find anyone with name recognition and Jay was the presiding state climatologist so they went with that.

Jay is a good dude you can drink a beer with and hang out with but he is not a true meteorologist. The American Meteorological Society relaxed the rules about 25 years ago concerning the definition of a meteorologist. The rule was relaxed so the society could garner more member dues imo. It’s about $100 per year to have membership in the AMS.

Having said that, Jay and Steve are the best options in Baton Rouge and do an excellent job. Jay has other obligations in providing briefings to local governmental agencies. He works long hours. He is an honorable man.

Nash will always be the best. The weather "forecasters" now rely too much on computer models. They all brag on the accuracy of the European model, but in 2016, the Euro was the only model predicting the rainfall event that caused the flood, and they IGNORED it because they thought it was an outlier. None of them have the instincts and experience with the weather like the analog weathermen had.

Nicondra Norwood.....only because I know her husband.

Really in NOLA it's David Bernard and Bruce Katz. I like Chris Franklin also.

WAFB had the best coverage of Barry by far. Early Saturday morning, Jay Grimes was the first to say the narrative of 20 inches of rain was unrealistic according to the National Weather Services own model which was showing far less.

Jeff Morrow did an outstanding job Sunday morning detailing the potential tornado threats, even predicting some of the tornado warnings a few minutes before the weather service sent the alerts out.
