So if the state is really broke, can we finally abandon Grand Isle?

It is evidently washing away again. It will take a few million dollars to "repair" the beach, as it has done the last few times it washed away. And all you guys who complain about government overspending will be first to champion this ultimately doomed slice of Louisiana.

Oh and while we're at it, can we shut down Lafitte too? No town in America has flooded more, and been bailed out more, in the last 20 years than the town of Jean Lafitte, Louisiana.

I expect downvotes from fishermen. Don't care. Self interested fishermen are the only group that routinely opposes every coastal restoration plan. F them.

We can fix the erosion problem but nobody wants to do what needs to be done.

Louisiana's largest city has to pump every drop of water out.

How much does that cost the state?

When is the last time you went to grand isle?

I think they need a more permanent solution such as break waters in the gulf. Also why not let more freshwater come down bayou lafourche to build the marsh up again behind the island ?

We should sell that water to Texas where they have to pump it in.

Probably need to abandon the area in south central Louisiana after the flooding last year too.

Why is GI so high on your list of things go to cut? Of all the spending in the state, why does GI even register?
