I truly hate the fair, but I have 2 small kids who like the animals and kiddie rides so I suck it up.

My county is fairly rural, so it was an awesome opportunity to see hundreds of super trashy wypipo with bad tats, fat women in sweat pants, and your basic dregs of society. The guy who I stood behind in the ticket line had on an old basketball jersey (Gasol), skinny jeans, and black suede shoes

There were also an unusually large number of trashy old granies with mixed grand babies in tow.

I would put the terrible human : decent human ratio at around 4:1.

Also, few of the ride operators speak English.

It makes me sad to think about what our country is becoming.

Compared to a fair pic from 1950s:

The operator that runs the midway at our fair uses eastern European college students. Some are not very fluent, but all are clean cut and courteous. Not your typical carnies. I'm embarassed at what they must say when they go back home.

I always wondered about the quality control of those rides. Carnies smoking weed and building a Tilt-a-whirl. I wonder how many extra nuts and bolts they have left over at the end of constructing those things and just say to hell with it and throw them in the trash.

4:1 is a pretty light ratio. Obviously you’ve never been to the Thibodaux Fireman’s Fair.

I miss the good old days when poor people could only afford to go to town once a month.

Eastern Europe is filled with white trash like you wouldn't believe. The ones who make it over here to work at the fair are for the most part the educated ones.

They probably go home and say "Yep, Americans are pretty much just like us."

The folks at fairs in the 50s were probably trashy by the standards of that time as well.

I worked a bumper car ride on a lot of weekends when I went to lsu. 300 bucks for the weekend and 400 if I stayed on Sunday and help pick up the rides. It was a smaller fair that mostly did churches and such. Still a lot of trash

Weird, being at the fair strengthens my faith in humanity and in Americans.. It's not what you see on CNN.

You should come on down and check out the Washington Parish Free Fair to do some true people watching, and regardless of what some posters think everyone and I mean every is represented not just a Trump voter.
