They were predicting only 15% so it was huge turnout lol

And the last runoff turnout was 12.5%.

I pulled up to my voting location and I was behind a white Ford multi-passenger van. The van stopped at the door of the building (blocking traffic) and let one person jump out to enter the building. The van then made a big circle in the parking lot to turn around so it could pick the person up after they voted.

First time I ever saw that. It does happen.

I know it's not an excuse but it's been shown to affect things. In addition evidence shows that bad weather not only affects that election but typically when there's a drop in turnout for an election, the next election also has a low turnout.

They seem to slip taxes in on those types of elections too.
If they want it to pass, yes.

Seems like Bargas put a lot of someone's money in that race to lose so soundly.

If the majority of registered voters didn’t vote at all on a measure, why should it be allowed to pass? Keep putting it on the next ballot until a majority voter turnout happens. That will piss the politicians off.

2 major taxes on the ballot and less than 27% of the registered voters came out and had their voices heard?

I can’t stand people that don’t vote and their opinions don’t count.

The entire premise of this thread is a failure.

The masses don't complain. That's the point.

It was his own money. He knew he needed it was difficult to win with the R behind his name in BR proper.

Another reason why party affiliation shouldn’t be on ballots. Force the voter to actually look at the candidates and do research on their platforms.

, that would have unwanted consequences for both sides in many cases.

Without reading thread, I do think the timing of not being on the November ballot is part of it.

Also, the polls were super quick. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Literally no line.

Probably. But then again I’m the outlier in that I vote for the candidate and their platform. Not their party.

Well, I know there's a certain faction that loves low voter turnout because they know the numbers are against them, hence the active measures to suppress the vote, like cutting back the early voting period.

Been saying this for years.

Don't put names, gender, or party affiliation on the ballots.

Put their core ideas and their experience professionally and politically (leaving out political affiliation). Have this listed plainly and succinctly, without any filler.

It would make people think about the ideas at least.

Most people vote down party lines and don't know a goddamn thing about either side. Its a fricking joke.

Eh, wouldn't matter. They'll still promise one thing and do the other.
