Mardi gras is the emperor's new clothes. New orleanians talk so much about how wonderful it is, it makes people not want to be left out so they then talk about how wonderful it is.
In reality its one of the dumbest traditions and events the modern world has ever seen.

What about Christmas? Its such a silly holiday. Parents buy their kids expensive toys they only pay with once, but at least they get to take a picture for FB.

I can understand the criticism of carnival. I cannot understand being glad its "over". Especially if you don't participate. Outside of a road or business closure, I can't see how it possibly effects your life as a non-participant which is why I assume you're just a miserable person because you are opposed to how others enjoy themselves.

If you don’t go to any parades you’re only affected by seeing king cakes in grocery stores and people in purple/gold/green apparel. THE HORROR!
