Of course it is ridiculous to say it isn't as bad as the normal flu. But it is becoming clearer by the day that it isn't as bad as many were saying initially. And it sure as hell isn't so bad that this country can't carry on with some modifications to life and common sense. For those that want to continue to hide in your homes for another month, six months, whatever, what exactly is the end game? The virus is going to be around until there is an effective vaccine. No one ever said that life would be easy, certain or risk free.

I guess if you ignore that the entire country is shut down and still more people have died in NYC this month from Covid than all of America usually do from the flu .

I wonder what flu numbers would like if we shut down to stop it?

Looks like your posts over the last 6 weeks, Simpleton. Easy to manipulate. Full of fear, Kilroy.

Out of curiosity, has any of the recent flu epidemics killed 34.5 K people in the US in a month? Because COVID19 has killed that many in the last 30 days.

Or been the leading cause of death in a multi week stretch.

I shouldn't even engage in this exercise of futility, but I don't always listen to my better judgement.

Have you been paying attention enough to hear the scientists describe COVID-19 as a "novel" virus? That means it is a virus that has never before been detected in humans, so our immunity systems have never seen it before.

Not at all actually.

Mortality rate is 1 or 2 in 1000. Not 2 or 3 in a hundred

If this is determined to be accurate...yay us! But this thing had a high infectious rate and we had ZERO solid info on it. The Stanford study that sites this is now being released 5 or so months after it kicked off in China. What if the results had turned out to be 1 or 2 deaths out of 10 and we had not taken these precautionary steps? I remember hearing an epidemiologist that was interviewed at the beginning of this say "I would rather have to defend myself for taking an abundance of caution early, than have to explain why there was so much death from not taking enough". I agree completely!

And yet the data continues to show approximately 50% of people infected are asymptomatic. Seems the human body’s immune systems were better prepared to handle it than all of the doomsayers will ever want to admit.

Published March 12

Solid, reliable information was public knowledge before any serious mitigation efforts were under way. But that solid information wouldn’t allow for sensational headlines or political grandstanding, so it was largely ignored.

Why not just shut down the world economy every year for 6 months during flu season, in case there’s a mutated strain that kills 1 or 2 people in 10 that we don’t even know about yet? People like you that want to live your lives in fear can self-quarantine and walk around in hazmat suits so you feel safe. Tens of millions of people shouldn’t have to have their lives ruined because you want to play what if.

I remember hearing scientists and medical professionals say this wasn’t something to worry about at the beginning of all this. I also remember them creating models that forecasted millions of people dying.

Despite scientists and medical professionals all around the world who are adamant that this is not just another flu, the fact that there are still alot of people out there who thinks this isnt any worse than the flu is very laughable. People will believe what they waht to. It's no use even arguing.

Lots of medical professionals are out of work right now and strongly disagree.

This was a scam and quite frankly its saddening that we bend to the government so easily

If we pressure our leaders to step in and combat that then we have a fighting chance to deal with it...because we are all still here to fight it! The next pandemic can go completely the opposite way like the last one (1918) did. A strong mind would be able to comprehend that.

Lol, grownup here youngster. A virus don't give 2 shits about what year it is and no amount of technology will do any good for something that has never been seen. Just ask 1918, 1890, 1770, 1720, 1545, 1346, 541...and on an on.

New nominee for dumbest post in all of this nonsense. Put your hazmat suit back on so you can’t type anymore. The wind could’ve blown a covid-19 particle in when you opened the door earlier.
