Backpacker usually puts packages together for Mardi Gras and other times as well.

Skiing is a lot of fun. However learning to ski sucks. I'd recommend Breckenridge. Lots of greens to ski on and an amazing town to hang out in. Plus it isn't a far drive from Denver.

I’ve been to Aspen for Mardi Gras, they do a parade in the town. Family friendly area

Red River New Mexico has a lot of Louisiana people for Mardi Gras. The town really caters to them.

mos def.
YouTube exercises. You need strengthen inner thighs, all tendons. Around knees.
Lots of free Tao chi intro on YouTube too. Alternate with ski prep exercises.
And notice the warm ups for tai chi. Whole body.
Take instruction when you get there at least one day even if you watch a lot of YouTube.
A month before you will know where snow is.
Seen if you can find good snow at 3,000 feet, instead of 7,000 so you don't have issue acclimating to altitude.
You don't need to ski the grand tetons first time out.

Park City, Breckenridge, Vail, Jackson Hole(probably don't want to go here first time around) all good options; Tahoe is the snow is good and you want to party a bit more.

when Austria was taken over by Soviets they offered single payer to everybody.
They had to change that. So many broken legs, knees, and skull fractures. They made people buy ski insurance additionally.

I recommend that you go Some place warm, a place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I’m talking about a little place called Aspen.

I use to bring my family to Keystone in Colorado every other year for Mardi Gras. It’s a great time.
I did Keystone because I found it had more to do than skiing/boarding. Plenty of green slopes. Night skiing. Etc.
If you are driving instead of flying, I would look to purchase my ski equipment used from off rental stores. I got all my equipment for my family 50% of the cost for renting. Used them for over 10 years. Just had to buy again a few times as the kids got older.

take a lesson, you'll get good enough to enjoy the trip, they have ski/snowboard schools or just baby sitters that will play in the snow with your rugrat while you are taking lessons/skiing
