Smoothie King will be featured tonight on Undercover Boss. The company now has 1,200 outlets (many franchised) across the globe... and was started in Kenner, LA. They had HQ in Covington and Metairie before moving to Dallas.

They join a list of great companies founded in Louisiana but whose HQ eventually moved elsewhere, either due to acquisition or not believing in LA. Some of them have maintained a "legacy" HQ in LA, but all major decisions and officers are out of state.

If these companies were still HQ in LA, we would have a stronger economy. It sucks they left.

Smoothie King
Popeyes
Raising Cane's
Amedisys
Shaw
Stewart Enterprises

I'm sure there are others... this is just off top of my head.

Blame the politicians in this state for not creating a business friendly environment.

Oh, and Smoothie King got woke with BLM so I haven’t visited them since.

Corporate Headquarters for Raising Cane’s and Amedisys is still listed as being in Baton Rouge

Maybe they are in name only - idk

Shaw was purchased by CB&I and run into the ground by inept upper mgmt. CB&I was already headquartered in the Woodlands when they purchased Shaw.

Amedisys still has a decent sized office off of Sherwood (not the one OLOL took over) but they did shift a number of jobs to Nashville. I think the Cane’s office is more of a HQ in name only and most of the employees are in Dallas.

I'm pretty confident there are additional reasons for leaving besides just the business environment of Louisiana. who aspires to become highly successful and be anchored in Covington, Louisiana?

When did we lose Smoothie King?

Technically Cane's is still in Baton Rouge. Their ops center is in Frisco, TX.

Popeyes and Stewart were both acquired by another company.

I mean, that's sort of circular logic.

So was Shaw.

Their founders also just bought Brown and Root and moved it to Baton Rouge.

And then the former Shaw business was bought and renamed APTIM and is headquartered in Baton Rouge. Same building as the former Shaw group on Essen.

I didn't know that. What do they employ at HQ though, 30 people?

Delta was HQ’d and I think started in Monroe, La. it left for Georgia in the 1940’s or 50’s. It wasn’t recent, but I’m sure it would be noticeable if it were still there.
