I don't think it was a necessarily "smug & aloof" expression. All that you can say for sure is that the corner of his mouth is raised; you don't know why. He may have been saying something, or possibly even grimacing. Everything else is just an assumption based on very little.

Everything in me hopes I am wrong, but that trial in Florida a few years ago should be the playbook for the defense in this case.
How is this even in the same realm? Even if Smith said I have a gun and reached into his vehicle, dude shot him in the back. He should have retreated back to his vehicle and deescalated the situation. It doesn't appear that smith physically attacked Hayes.

Would it be safe for me to assume from this picture that he is an a-hole?

Big time. The defense is going to make him look like the worst person in the world at trial.
The defense is not going to be able to get the spousal abuse or any of his suspensions into evidence.

Why the use of the parentheses?

Did you read any of this thread? Have you followed any of the details since 5 min after the story broke. There is way more to this story than a fender bender. And you're calling me a clown.

It's NOPD...

As someone said earlier, they were specific with their words for a reason. "Only 1 gun was confiscated from the scene."

This just illustrates the different standard we have for cops and citizens. Put a cop in the same situation and the shooting is entirely justified according to the law and the majority of the public.
But in this case, it's murder because it's two citizens.
Strange.
You would think it would be the opposite with the higher standard applied to the one with actual training.

Will made the mistake of telling the guy he had a gun.

this is fricking retarded. Hayes was not behaving professionally and from reports was instigating aggression and wanting to fight will smith in the street.

What? No it would not. Completely false statement.

The video of the white dude on the scene stated this. That is why the shooter never left the scene. Smith said he had a gun and shooter said I do too. That will "back up" their claim of self defense. Now I doubt the law allows u to shoot someone if the other person just infers they are going to shoot you first but I don't know.

you aren't giving the complete picture of what witness said in the video.

bullshite. Guy says, "I'm going to go get a gun," to a cop, walks to his car, reaches in, he gets shot in the back because the cop was in fear of his life.
It's happened more than once.
