Being a lower enlisted guy, bonding with your homies doing some of the most meaningless tasks you could imagine just for the sake of “doing something”

At 17 I worked at the Old Downtown Airport in Baton Rouge fueling up and tie-down of small airplanes when they arrived.

Golf. I wasn’t very good but we had a blast. My knees need to be replaced. I’m in good shape, lift regulary, even leg press. I just can’t rotate.

I grew up across the river from a Mississippi wildlife refuge. The river made a hard left turn right by our house. You could go just up river and turn right into a creek that ran at an angle back to river downstream of the turn. So we would go up the river, turn down the creek, and basically float the creek down back into the river, then ride back toward our house upriver. Floating this trip we'd be Dad driving, brother to the left, and me on the right in the flat boat. The goal was to shoot squirrels or deer if we jumped them along the river. We did this dozens of times. We never killed shite. Now the creek is sanded in so it's impossible to do this again. I hunted over there a few years ago, didn't have any luck, but the float would be awesome to do again.

Playing golf and hiking. Hiked as a teenager in the grand Tetons. Was a great experience. Due to a neck injury, those times are over but at least I have a memory forever.

Working the summer feeding program in Lake Charles as a teenager. Most older employees worked in the school district. My teenage coworkers were athletes but attended different schools. We talked about sports and compared schools/teams 99% of the time.

Spinning records at a radio station. I was very good at it, but those skills are no longer needed

Working at Bruno’s Grocery store in my teenage years in the 90s.
All my friends from high school worked there.
The most fun I ever had working a job.
A lot of good and weird memories… everything from fighting to sack for a certain girl to shooting the shite with your buddies while getting buggies from the lot.
Made $4,40 an hour lol

Working in the field. Being around massive top out cranes, D8s pushing earth, 30-truck foundation pours across hundreds, thousands of acres. Climbing 400ft and just ripping cigs with the boys while we were winded out.
Best job I ever had
