He was what it meant to be cool. People aren't cool these days and music doesn't have that cool vibe anymore. RIP Sly.

One of the great funk bands of all time. Back when musicians could just let their hair down and play.

Sly Stone was such a player, he ruined Billy Preston. Billy came home one day and caught Sly in bed with his fiancé, Kathy Silva. Weeks later, Sly married her onstage during a concert. It crushed Preston so bad he became a cokehead. . He confided this stuff to Keith Richards before he died. Sly just crushed him. Sly divorced her a short time later. All for nothing.

I started listening to them when I was a kid. My dad has one of their records. I've loved their music ever since. Sly was a awesome guy and musician.
RIP

sly stone had had more talent in his little finger than every nominee at the grammys this year…

What's crazy is that its easier now than ever to make music, yet the quality isn't as good as it used to be since... I'd say early 2010s.

I was listening to an interview with Mannie Fresh (for those who don't know, a new orleans rapper/dj. He is in his 50s today. He made beats for the hot boys, and a lot of other people). He said when he started he had 8 notes to work with. 8 buttons to make beats with. He could slow them up, slow them down, make them with different instrument sounds etc.. He said today, these young artist have it all at their finger tips. They have every possible beat, sound, etc... He said he would like to see the younger artist and DJs make a beat with 8 notes.

I feel like that's the whole problem in the music industry. There is so much available, there is no creating with what you have so you don't have people creating new types of genres of music. Everything is so uniform today that you don't have people like Sly Stone creating music. You have people pressing buttons and there isn't as much thought going into it.

That’s a really weird way to bring up something that nobody was talking about. Sorta like saying, “since nobody has mentioned it, he was a good guy, he liked donkeys and oranges the same”.

Ahh, Now it makes sense.

Nice - I just listened to few clips, will check out the whole thing later.

And, speaking of checking out - that's Sly's sister Rose Stone on the Clavinet keyboard. Nice. Of course, she's 80 now!
