A skydiver was killed after she hit a big rig trailer and crash-landed on a Northern California highway outside an airport. The 28-year-old woman was skydiving with a group of seven people around 2 p.m. Thursday, California Highway Patrol PIO Ruben Jones told CNN. The group took off from the Lodi Parachute Center. CNN has reached out to the facility for comment. Conditions were windy, and the woman crashed into the truck during the skydiving group's descent near the Lodi Airport, Jones said.

Then, she hit the right-hand shoulder of the road, the California Highway Patrol said in a Facebook post. The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The other six people in the group survived, according to CNN affiliate KCRA. The station spoke to Lisa Reyes, who was driving with her father and brother on Highway 99 when the woman crashed.

"The way the person was struggling, just struggling against the wind and their body was just moving really, really fast," she told the station.

That's awful

Another video about it LINK

Sounds like they shouldn't be skydiving in that area to begin with, but especially in windy conditions.

She should have listened to Buzz: “We’re not aiming for the truck!”

Is the red stuff blood? Doesn’t look like blood but the situation suggests it

Tragic, especially if it was preventable by use of good judgement...sounds like it may have been a bit irresponsible.

how fast was she going? I thought you're only around 15-20 knots under full canopy? Did the chute not open or not open fully?

Jesus. Women can’t even parachute on a highway the right way, much less drive

From 1999 to 2018, 16 people died jumping from planes that took off from the parachute center. The most recent death before Thursday was on Oct. 14, 2018, when a woman’s parachute failed to open during a jump.

So basically this place is averaging almost one death per year - is this normal for parachuting?
