There are 3 things in life I can count on right now: 1.) Death 2.) Taxes 3.) The Advocate publishing daily hit pieces on St. George

With Skip and Cador lines up against this thing it will never pass

Ok, that’s just wrong.
The gangs in Mogudishu actually pulled together to protect infrastructure in the area.

St. George is going to happen and there is nothing the power brokers can do to stop it from happening. Those who have been in power have done have neglected the public over and over again which has built up such large resentment towards the current structure that it is now impossible to keep them together.
Downtown BR and LSU property owners are going to get hit the hardest because they will be forced to shoulder the brunt of the lost tax revenue.
The good news is that once St. Georges breaks off then it will force the State of Louisiana to take up the issue of taxing non-profits on their property taxes.

I’m fine with downtown developers like Bob Dean eating the costs on this.
A large amount of parish expenditures went into fixing up downtown over the past 20 years.

Desperation is a stinky perfume.
What EBR high school did Skip Bertman and Roger Cador go to?
Wait, they aren't from Baton Rouge.

At least channel 9 said neither live in St. George area.
Nah they updated it at 12:45. It doesn't state that specifically anymore.

Skip is good friends with Lipsey, and Cador is good friends with Skip.

I suspect a lot of the remaining unincorporated areas will flock to one of the other cities for annexation (including St. G).
What's going to be the real kicker is in about 10 years, when St.G. is rolling, when areas of City of BR seek to move into St.G.

Where did Skip Bertman's kids go to school?

I love this framing as “breaking away”
What a joke.

If/when St George gets an ISD, I think we will see an acceleration in residential areas trying to move.
Theoretically the city could give a shite about that because businesses are where the tax dollar are. But businesses could bolt before then if city taxes get oppressive.

When Skip Bertman had a chance for “ UNITY” he chose to go with “ Separation” and send his kids to Dunham. Another case of “Unity for Thee but not for Me “.
