Silencer vote related - why would people be opposed to silencer regulations?

I side more with the gun owner crowd in these debates typically. I understand wanting to carry a gun to protect yourself and family but what is the rationale for silencers?

PS - I am not anti-silencer. I'm literally asking a question, no angle or slant intended.

Hearing protection. As you know, silencers aren't silent.

That's the main argument in favor of silencers?

Ability to maintain hearing ability without losing your hearing from unmuffled shots.

Also just maintenance of hearing in general. When I go to the range, I always double up on protection. Plugs + muffs. I always come home with a headache if I don't. I'd prefer to not do that.

Because I can walk into any store that sells oil filters and make the same thing basically.

Because they don't "silence" anything.

Because you start letting them take away things and they'll never stop.

Have you learned nothing from the recent leftist tactics,

Don't you mean a suppressor?

I dont know if you can completetely silence a weapon, but could you silence it to a point where its more effective than using custom ear protection?

You're still looking at around 135-140 decibels when using supersonic ammo.

To kill as many of the field destroying hogs as possible before they know what's up.

the terms are interchangeable. Hiram Maxim called it a silencer on his patent

yes. 22's are movie quiet when suppressed, and centerfires are easily hearing safe

I'm not arguing against silencers, I'm literally asking a question.
