By omitting the fact that ammunition is more important to the effectiveness of a suppressor than the suppressor itself. The guy in your video is using standard rounds, they break the sound barrier, they make loud crack when they leave the can. Of course it’s still “loud” and it’s also not representative of the capabilities of the can he’s using. Outside of most AR platforms, that have trouble cycling subsonic rounds, you absolutely can make your walther sound just like the movies. Of course, I’m sure you already knew that...

I do acoustic engineering so I'm familiar with the math. Lets do some math.
Google says an AR15 shooting standard ball ammo will measure around 158dBL at 1m. Your hearing is instantly damaged at 140dBL without hearing protection. At 200m away the sound would be 108dBL
A suppressed AR15 is measured around 136dBL for a good quality can. At 200 meters the sound level would be measured at 88dBL. That's a little louder than standing beside a running lawnmower. Can you hear a lawnmower when you are standing beside it? That's how loud an AR15 shot suppressed from 200m away is. But... that is just the measurement of the muzzle blast. Any high powered rifle the bullet is supersonic and is propagating a supersonic shock wave (sonic boom) as is moves down range. That is the "crackling" sound you will hear down range. Again google search finds some testing that shoes a bullet's supersonic shock wave will be in the range of 135+ dBA and there is nothing a suppressor will ever do to mask that sound signature. That is a 135dBA noise propagating down the lane of fire you that you should easily be able to hear unless you are deaf. -6dB per doubling of the distance away from the shock wave you are still over 100dBL when you are over 56M away from where the bullet passes by. That shock wave noise level is constant until you hit about 1300fps then it starts dropping off quickly. Plugging numbers into my ballistics calculator, standard XM193 556 ball ammo will not drop down to that velocity level until you hit the 600 yard range.

I have an armadillo problem in my yard. My nearest neighbor is 140 yards away. A silencer on my .22 allows me to take care of them without him waking up.
If it's a weekend, they get 12 gauge or .45

When you carve away at something, it's always done one chisel stroke at a time, never once and done. Every time we vote for more regulation we run the risk of regulating ourselves to the ultimate goal of banning said freedom all together, and if you place your trust in the government to have your your best interests at heart you will be sadly disappointed every time. I prefer to trust the people than the government.

Yep brings decibels down to a level not requiring hearing protection. They actually make a gun less effective as they slow the projectile down. They really shine on pistols and subsonic rifle cartridges

Ok.
The link compared like to like.
You want the guy to compare regular ammo to subsonic rounds.
Subsonic rounds are quieter normally. With a suppressor they are quieter.
And? They are still loud enough to immediately recognize within the subsonics effective range (short) and definitely within the suppressors range (super fricking short)
But here you go, the ammo you seem to think is fricking magic.

Those saying silencers / suppressors aren't silent, have you tried a Silencerco Sparrow? Granted it's for 22lr but that's still a loud gun. Not .45 loud but the Sparrow suppressor with subsonic ammo is no louder than popping the ring on a beer IMO. I guarantee I could shoot in my back yard and neighbors on the other side of the fence would never dream I was shooting a hand gun.
