Following the law enforcement pay increase, additional funding will be allocated for improvements to economic development and critical infrastructure. Each councilmember will also receive funding for their district for special projects.

Well, that's one way to get it to sail through Parish Council and onto the ballot.

From the City of BR Government website.
That news release was dated February 6, 2025.

That means it's over a year old and was about the "Thrive Program" which voters voted down last year.

You need to edit and amend your OP. It's very misleading.

Was that intentional on your part?

Yeah, the money isn’t coming from the library fund for this.

No new tax.

I am guessing the audit the mayor recently called for turned up some funds.

This is a good thing for the officers and the city.

So, again, where did you get the quotes you posted about moving library funds to pay for the raises?

Click the link in the OP. It’s the first paragraph at that site.

quote:

n an effort to support local law enforcement, Mayor-President Sid Edwards and his team have closely analyzed the EBR City-Parish budget to determine where improvements can be made. Mayor-President Edwards is proposing a plan to rededicate existing funds so that the city-parish can have both top-notch libraries and pay for other critical needs such as public safety, infrastructure and economic development. This plan involves transferring funding from the parish library system to the general fund

That’s clearly dated from a year ago from the thrive plan. The website hasn’t been updated for the plan rolled out today.

It is very hard to support BRPD post-Kip because of the drain in good officers due to SWB throwing them under the bus in her term. They have been replacing them with whoever shows up.

It really is sad the job Kip did only to have that dumbass mess it all up. It started when she named her own chief of police.

Thanks for the clarification. I did not notice that. I guess I made some ASSumptions there.
