Didn't read all that, but if you air family business here, you may have issues. Some things should be kept in house, imo

It sucks for them. He served multiple tours in Afghanistan in the Airforce Reserves and was a fireman. She is always finding or creating good causes and volunteering in the community. They live on his military retirement and SS and have always been lower middle class. It would have been nice for them to have a little cushion in their old age. They deserved that.

After my Father died the shite hit the fan with one sister and somewhat a brother. The one sister was pissed that the other sister got to be the executrix and just caused trouble airing dirty laundry to her friends. Cost the estate money by wanting investigations on money spent. I am one of 7 (1 passed) and only one speaks to her. The other brother just blew his inheritance and keeps begging for money. It's pretty sad because we were very close. Especially the two sisters.

I'm glad I'm adopted after reading some of this.
The people who bought me, through the church, from my 14 yr old mother and 15 yr old father, have done numerous solid things for me throughout the years.
My 2 other 'real' siblings have made it quite clear to me how things will happen.

Very common, my uncle died. The family went to the hospital. His sister went to his house and cleaned out his valuables. She also found his will (that she was not in) and made it disappear. She then was entitled to a 50/50 split of his house (she otherwise would not have got). My mom was so sad, it didnt matter to her.

Old people are very private with their finances, but a lot of drama could be avoided if they read their will out loud yearly at family gatherings, instead of waiting until they die.

My moms family was dirt poor. No one visited them except my mom and we lived the farthest away. When they died, she had two siblings accuse her of trying to take everything since she was the one left in charge of their assets. It was maybe 10k total and I'm pretty sure she let them all have it. Only her and one brother made it out of the white trash cycle out of 7 total, so there was bound to be some theatrics. It doesn't take a lot of money to get people to act like shite when they can get something for free.

They did. I was the only one ever to mow the yard. Or rake the leaves. I was the only one that ever got beat for not matching the Tupperware lids.
