Unrelated: me and the wife were lunching out that way last year and saw the end of a high speed chase, cops with rifles and shite, just west of CC. Pote City is a wild-arse place, man.

my "formative" years were there, had some great times, my Dad made a small fortune while his office was there(within six blocks of that intersection,) used to be able to buy beer after hours/on Sundays within a 10 block radius of that place, wouldn't drive through there at daytime these days

I remember about twelve or thirteen years ago when some gang banger spotted some dude he was after at the Sonic near there. He got out of his car, in broad daylight at lunch time, with an AK and lit some dude up in the parking lot. There were regular citizens and construction workers in the stalls so there were actually witnesses who "saw something." I remember theTV interviews when they said he was just walking next to the car as it pulled out putting rounds into the dude. Kilt him dead, walked over to his car and drove away. The witnesses were all saying "it was just like in the movies!"

Damn, I’ve gotten happy hour drinks there many times after shopping til we almost dropped. Coulda been me.

I used to go to that Popeye's and the nearby Churches on occasion if it was broad daylight. They would get robbed now and then, so it was chancy. Then one day about 20 years ago the customers were so damned scary looking that I felt lucky to get out alive. Shut it down and have not been back to either.
