SHV water: Wall Valve to ice maker quit working. Took it off, looked inside- ??????. Thankful for pre-ice maker filter.
(Not so subtle have-fridge-with-icemaker brag.)

Yes it has. I used to in Bossier for years until a year ago I moved off.
It’s absolutely terrible.

It tastes like dirt to me. The water supply does come from cross lake i do believe. When i lived there it seemed it was always worse in the summer and i think they said it was due to increased algae....??

t's tasted like pond scum for at least the last 5 to 6 years. When I grew up there the water tasted pretty good.
Googling "shreveport tap water" produces several years' worth of scary stories.
Yikes, guys.

Hardest water around. Comes from Cross Lake. Tested it, and PH was 9.1 a few years ago. Conductivity off the charts high.
They won’t make any chemical changes because they are afraid it could stir up the gunk in the pipes and really cause more problems.

I think it varies depending on what part of town you’re in and the season. The water downtown and northward tastes better to me than the water in central and south Shreveport.

Pineville water is pretty bad too, unless they fixed it in recent years.

I guess me and everyone else just suddenly realized the water tasting terrible.

Does Shreveport bring anything to the table? I'm genuinely curious if someone could enlighten me. I drove through there and literally saw "Shitport" graffiti'd on a building and a pothole on 20 almost swallowed my car.
It’s pretty affordable. Housing isnt outrageous. You can get anywhere within 20 or 30 minutes. There’s Decent to good public schools, depending on where you live or which magnet program you use. There’s good places to eat. If you like to hunt and fish, you can do that around there. There’s minimal traffic.
Having lived there, I’ll be the first to say that the city has major issues and I probably wouldn’t ride around at night through certain areas if you’re trying to take safety in regards

It's stronger in the summer months. I was there first two weeks in December and you could still taste it.
On a side note, I experienced my first earthquake when I was up there.

The drive through on I-20 is pretty bad. There are some old money nice areas Southeast. Southern Trace is a nice golf course if you stay in that bubble and don’t venture out.

I was told by the city that it came from the bottom of Cross Lake when I lived there 20 years ago. And after a heavy rain the bottom was stirred up and it was worse. A filter on our faucet helped.

Funny to read this today, I tasted Shreveport tap water for the first time yesterday and almost spit it out….was terrible

Baton Rouge, for all its faults, has the best municipal tap water I've ever had.
Posted on 1/19/25 at 2:28 pm to grizzlylongcut
The shat that appears as topics these days. Sheesh
Who drinks municipal tap water & then complains about it?!

Damn, wizard of smart level post here. HEY BAWS, don’t drive through the hood….at night.
Posted on 1/19/25 at 2:33 pm to NoBoDawg
It goes beyond that. It’s hard to get between certain nice areas without driving through the hood in Shreveport so it’s kind of sketchy to go to even other nice areas at night. I realize your sarcasm is so advanced though.

This thread is interesting to me. I used to live there, but don’t live there anymore. Sometimes go back and visit. Don’t remember anything about the water being particularly bad.
