One piece shower in the pool/game room. Son had a bunch of knucklehead friends over and one of them snapped this bitch off

The brass sleeve won’t come out...I guess there is a flange on the back of it. Is there another way to get to the valve stem or cartridge? Shower is on an exterior wall, no access point. Any idea on how to approach this? I’ll call a plumber if necessary but I usually try to DIY first.

I would be willing to bet that either the fitting or the shaft with spin loose. Try so vice grips or possibly needle nose players and spin the outer fitting loose.

It was out in there some how sonits got to come loose also.

Umm.
Turn the water off to the house before your mess with it.

I got the brass fitting loose but I guess there’s a flange on the back of it. It won’t come out thru that hole

Is there a cut out or space in the adjacent rooms closet that will get you to this?

A lot of times, a cut out is put in in the room behind this just for this reason. There has to be a way to get to it from one of the walls.

It will come out, just need to figure out how. They didn't build the house around the valve. The valve went in after.
Like someone said, make sure you shut off water to house.

The valve body is still in there. You are correct, it looks like only the handle is broken. There are tools to remove that. Hire a plumber, and pick out a new trim set in the same brand.

Do not hire a plumber for this job. It's pretty simple once he figures out how to remove it

You're going to need either some tnt or a jack hammer.

Maybe I was wrong, they did build the house around the valve.

The Building Code in Germany is a shut-off valve for both Hot & Cold water supplies in each individual bathroom & kitchen areas.

Makes working on these types of issues a localized issue not a household issue.

OP: I got nuthin’, call a plumber?
