Eh, for something like that, if they are friendly, polite, etc... I generally give them a dollar and whatever change rounded up from my order.

If I ever actually eat in my truck there, I usually have one more carhops come ask me if I need any additional napkins, ketchup, peppermints...

With how shitty a lot of service can be around here in fast food, I don't mind giving an extra dollar to encourage them to keep it up. That and you can tell some of these kids are good kids just working while in school. Again, I don't mind helping them with some change as a tip for bringing me my food.

ETA: FYI, doing that shite on skates is incredibly difficult, moreso when you're inside trying to help people make drinks, take orders, all on a fast food greasy floor and bumping into people. I worked there during school and nearly busted my arse in shoes during busy hours

They deserve nothing. They walk 10 more steps than the McDonalds workers do and their service is slower.

One of my coworkers ordered some food for us a few years ago. The bill was $39.99 and she gave the server 2 $20's and told her to "keep the change hun".
She couldn't figure out why the girl had a pissy look on her face.

Yes. The servers are trying to make a go of it working for minimum wage or less.
My oldest son's girlfriend worked there as a senior in H.S.. She was pulling down $25 - $30 an hour. Yes, she wore blades.

Not the servers. I always tip the referee to make sure it's a fair fight.

I tip the black servers because I don't want them to think I'm not tipping because they're black.

I quit going to sonic because I don't feel like tipping and I feel bad if I don't tip.

I pay with my card normally and if I have a buck or two I tip.
