I always do. Usually a buck or two. People on skates net .25-.50/hr more than the regular servers as well. They depend on tips just like at regular restaurants.

I scope out all the sonics in the area until I can find a cute girl next door to lift out of poverty $1 at a time

Thought Sonic had a no tipping policy?

The waiters at sonic are just poor working kids. I admire they get out and find a job and go to work. The working conditions at sonic are not always that great. I always give them 20%.

If you play the role and skate to my window as the Sonic model was designed, you're going to get a tip.

If you eat in your car and they check on you like a waitress, then yes.
If you are just getting it to go, no.
I worked many a night in the drive-thru and never got tipped. Had a drunk throw a shake at me once...that was the closest to tipping.

Just pay with a card and avoid the whole tipping situation. Plus they rarely ever skate anymore, so the wipeouts and entertainment worth tipping for really isn't there.

You leave them the change.. they are making minimum wage and an extra 50 cents per car could turn into a significant pay raise per hour

I always tip a dollar or two. I like to think I am rewarding them for working, instead of sitting at home collecting welfare, selling drugs or making more babies.

only if they are on skates is my rule

Should you tip at sonic?

If a thought about tipping enters your mind ... Yes. Tip.

It is obviously up to the customer. I don't claim someone is stupid for tipping or a cheap a-hole for not tipping. It's your money. I always tip a buck, but that's my choice.

I used to tell them to keep the change when I paid in cash.
I only use my card now and so I don't tip.
For real. Who keeps loads of dollar bills except creepers who frequent perv's row at strip clubs?
If they added a step in the digital payment process to tip a dollar, I'd do that.

I tip the guys at Sonic $1. The girls get $1-$5 based on appearance.
This is pretty much my rule of thumb. However, if the girl is fricking ugly, no tip.

There is this one hop at sonic down the street, its like the Charlie brown of sonic tipping. Whenever I get him, somehow I never have money for a tip. I can go 5 times in a week fine that 6th time I will get him,and no tip money, once I was riding shotgun with my girl and left wallet at home and she only has 10 dollars and the order is 9 something. Wallet get stolen all I got is 15 dollars in my pocket order is 14.85
