I have a co-worker who makes plenty of money and has two children with a baby momma to whom he is not married.
She receives a TON of food stamps because in the government’s eyes she is an unemployed single mother of 2. My co-worker actually supports them fully and she doesn’t have to work
He sells the food stamps to his friends from the neighborhood for 75% of the value in cash. Makes quite a bit of extra money a month doing this. Bothers me, but the system allowing this bothers me more.

your automatic defense of people and saying the 1% on the first page has all of us believing you're blindly siding with food stamp recipients. When in reality you're just taking your little sampling of life up there in Tennessee and attempting to say the abuse isn't that bad everywhere.

Trucks come up here from South Louisiana to sell the large Gulf shrimp. All the trucks have a sign "EBT Cards Accepted."
A. We can't blame businesses for accepting different forms of payment. They are trying to make money and feed their families and they are working hard to do so. If the government is going to allow them to do this, they should do this.
B. Often times those trucks have really cheap and big shrimp. I have no problems with people buying seafood on EBT.

So you think giving things to folks over and over and expecting a different outcome is a solution? What WAS that definition of insanity...I have it here somewhere...amongst all my books about how to keep a man down.

You give them seafood, where is the incentive to crawl out of poverty?

They should be forced to receive them at dispensaries and made to felt somewhat shamed.
The problem with this is that the average food stamp recipient doesn't fit the stereotype of a lifelong welfare queen trying to game the system. Over half of recipients are children or elderly and of those remaining almost half work full time. The average length of time on the dole is 8-10 months so most people are using them during a rough spot and getting back off of them. Many of them have paid taxes for years and go back to paying taxes in a short time. Many, if not most of them, do realize it's a gift and are very grateful to have them. I don't see the benefit of shaming the majority for the actions of the minority. I understand the sentiment but I can't agree with it.

Let's set a time frame up then. Let the shaming begin after 18 months.
That seems fair right?

food stamps
welfare
free cell phones and other shite
more babies, more money
unwarranted handicapped parking tags
escalade leasing
no morals
no social skills
entitlement mentality
crime is a way of life
laziness and not trying to better themselves because of all the above
I really hope that hell exists.

so he is an idiot and a thief. They are already getting benefits they shouldn't and then instead of getting the full value (buying food) he loses 25% in value.

Because the incentive might not make sense to the young children.
Cheap gulf shrimp sold by local vendors sounds like a great way to get diverse foods, while also pumping money into local vendors pockets.

Yes.
He wants it in cash though. I tried to explain to him that he should just grocery shop with them and save his earned cash for whatever...fell on deaf ears.

I like this idea.
The long-term welfare folks who are able bodied adults should get the shaming.

A New York state lawmaker wants to block the use of food stamps for "luxury" items like high-end steaks, lobster and junk food.
IMO it's too complicated. Which products get "labeled" as non-food stamp purchase? Adding more bureaucracy and cost.

The "living high on the hog" is greatly exaggerated.
When you choose to rely on the taxpayers to eat and abuse that by buying expensive foods you are living way above your means...people on welfare have no means so they shouldn't get the perks that some who live on budgets don't live on.
And you are fooling yourself if you think many aren't living off the taxpayers because they choose to...some people just think they are entitled to live this way. And this has nothing to do with race because far more white people are on assistance than black people.

That doesn't matter.
Since it's something he shouldn't be getting anyway, it's ALL profit, no matter what he gets for it.
I can promise you, that's how he sees it.
