These fricking people, I swear ...

The Guardian: Research into animals’ emotional lives has cast doubt on the ethics of petkeeping.

quote:

From the animals that become dog and cat food and the puppy farms churning out increasingly unhealthy purebred canines, to the goldfish sold by the bag and the crickets by the box, pet ownership is problematic because it denies animals the right of self-determination. Ultimately, we bring them into our lives because we want them, then we dictate what they eat, where they live, how they behave, how they look, even whether they get to keep their sex organs.

quote:

At the same time, research is revealing that the emotional lives of animals, even relatively “simple” animals such as goldfish, are far more complex and rich than we once thought

I think we should keep keeping pets. But we should stop telling boys to chop their dick off and prance around like a girl.

I don’t eat pets. That should be enough.

We should stop keeping pets not for ethical reasons, but because they're expensive and shite & piss everywhere.

I stopped having a pet when it became a crime (legal or social) to let my dog run free (sans leash or fence) with the nuts he was born with.

Their goal is to keep human pets. Any defense you have, even a dog or cat, must be stripped from you.

I found an 8 week old kitten alone and stuck up a 30 foot tree outside my business. Said tree also has frequent visits from hawks.

I'm pretty sure I did the right thing keeping that cat

Who are you to say that the cat didn’t climb that tree because it had self determined to become unalive?

My cats woke up long enough to say, "eat a dick".

It’s not like domesticated dogs can be returned to the wild at this point. If we stop having dogs as pets then there will be less dog breeding. I’d say it’s better to let a dog live a great life in your house for 10-15 years than to not be born.

Watched an episode of neighbor Hood wars. This guy had just fought a fish. Some young dude came up and started saying the fish was being mistreated and threw his fish back in claiming he saved his life. But the story had a good ending. Dumbass got arrested and had to pay a 500.00 fine.

I mean the alternative for a dog is hunting and eating other live animals including possibly diseased rats, raccoons, possums, armadillos, whatever it could find.

I think they'd choose the kibble and table scraps over a possible rabid raccoon.

I’m just going to start writing BS articles like this for the ad revenue alone. Picture it: “Should we be eating food? The Dark Side of Providing your Body with Nutrients Required to Live”

And they lick their own assholes. Leads too many kids to grow up with unrealistic goals.
