Thanks yo thd engineers who designed I 10 and I 12.
It's the upper political cronies at DOTD that design major projects. They force the engineers to do what they think is best or what their major donor consultants think is best. If the engineer resists this, he gets moved into a closet office somewhere doing nothing.
That's why this state will always be a pile of shite.

Yep. The Bennington & College intersection by USPS attracts idiot gridlock drivers.

I can't think of a single metric by which Essen would be worse than College. I can't remember sitting through an entire light cycle without moving on Essen; that routinely happens to me on College when I have the misfortune of driving on it during the day.
Essen to Jefferson is way worse and has been for years. During rush hour it’s routinely 35+ minutes from Perkins to the interstate. And another 10-20 minutes to Jefferson. If you are going from Jefferson to Perkins on Essen it’s not bad.
Bluebonnet and Siegen are worse than College as well.

Very bad today. I was on Perkins headed from Essen. Had to take the back roads to avoid College dr intersection.

This
Others may get backed up up but none are as small of a stretch of road with businesses and major interstate entrances jammed in like college
Many spots in BR would benefit from a police presence that tickets people who give 0 fricks, park in the intersection, and exacerbate the congestion

MoveBR has the College Dr redesign project scheduled to go to bid in 2027, at a cost of $98 million.
It’s absurd how slow they move on projects.
They’ve had 7 years to improve Pecue-Perkins-Highland while the new interstate exit was being constructed and now that’s almost done and the Pecue/Highland intersection has gotten significantly worse with that project still years away.

Pretty sure today’s traffic is because of LSU’s graduation

There is very little advanced strategy. Anyone with a brain knows that screwed up intersection at Highland Pecue will be swamped when Pecue is completed.
Also remember we voted to widen Nicholson from LSU to Lee/Brightside back in 2005. Twenty years later and they haven’t started.
Why not?

We're calling Perkins to Jefferson "a distance"?
I'm guessing he meant the actual full thorougfare from Jefferson to the River. Just because it's three different names (really 4) doesn't mean his point isn't valid.
It will never cease being crazy how short-sighted with regard to constructing useful arterial thoroughfares Baton Rouge was during it's big period of growth as a city.

Yes, that's true. How about this one? Gourrier, Burbank, Siegen, South Sherwood, Sherwood, North Sherwood. Runs from River Road to Greenwell Springs.

maybe, just maybe, you aren't the expert on every subject about which you post. . And, sit down for this one, you could be...wrong. Each thoroughfare has times where they are worse than the other. Its not that difficult to comprehend.
Now, rant and rave about how you just know you are right.

Yes, Congrats, you found the ONE other one, five miles eastward and outward from the one he was referencing.

I tried it around that time. Thought I would outsmart the machine and go from Glasgow to Concord. 20mins later I am at Bennington and decided to bail and go back to Perkins to Highland.

It should alleviate some congestion at Highland/I-10 and Seigan/Perkins.
They are definitely going to need a light at Highland/Pecu. I was told it was going to be a roundabout but that got shitcanned because a light is cheaper. I do believe they are still going to straighten the intersection more like a T and make some turning lanes.

This is in progress according to the MoveBR website. Looks like they’re working on right of way acquisitions & land clearing should start next year.

It was supposed to be a roundabout and they scrapped it at the last minute for a light. They claim a light is cheaper and requires less right of way, however the documents on the MoveBR website says the exact opposite. The roundabout is cheaper, more cost effective and requires less right of way acquisition.
A light is gonna royally frick that intersection up even more.
