My wife's best friend (lives in Florida) sent her a vague text message saying to call the local county police and send them to her house if she sends another text telling her to.

This girl is breaking up with her boyfriend (I think), who apparently has a history of aggressive behavior with her and mental issues (has said he'd kill himself if she broke up with him). My wife texted her asking for more info because she's worried. The girl responded saying things are okay right now but she doesn't feel safe to leave because he has threatened to damage her things or hurt her cat. He also threatened to buy a gun and kill everyone at work (they work together)- although she wasn't sure how serious a threat that was.

Is this grounds to call the police? I think so, he threatened to kill people- even if not serious, id rather play it safe.

Yes. Easy enough to do a welfare check. Better to be safe.

Okay. We called. I know it is silly to come to a message board but I haven't been in this situation before and didn't want to do anything stupid

Exactly. AND, if he ever did follow through on his crazy threats, there's evidence that it was premeditated.

Call the police. Your wife's friend sounds like a winner...and she seems to choose other winners...

Anyone threatening to kill people at work, or really anywhere with a gun needs to be reported.

Alex Deaton

A fugitive wanted in connection with two killings in Mississippi and a string of shootings was finally caught in Kansas Wednesday after he jumped across state lines to stay one step ahead of the law.

Alex Deaton, 28, was a suspect in two murders and an additional shooting in Mississippi, and was linked to a shooting, carjacking and kidnapping in New Mexico and a carjacking and shooting in Kansas.

Deaton was believed to have stolen a couple’s car in New Mexico earlier this week before driving to Kansas where he allegedly shot a store clerk and stole his car, the Clarion-Ledger reports.

Deaton was believed to have stolen a couple’s car in New Mexico earlier this week before driving to Kansas where he allegedly shot a store clerk and stole his car, the Clarion-Ledger reports. Deaton supposedly came out of a wooded area and approached a couple in a 2001 Honda sedan that was parked in the parking lot of La Luz Trail Head in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He held them at gunpoint and a struggle to escape ensued, investigators said. The man tried to get away and Deaton fired shots, shooting the man in the buttocks and grazed the woman with bullets, police said.

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey added that Deaton started to drive away with the woman in the trunk of the car, but she escaped. Deaton tried to recapture her, but the couple got away. Both victims identified Deaton as the suspect in this carjacking, according to authorities.

Police say Deaton was next seen in Kansas when the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Dept. became involved in a pursuit with the stolen Honda Accord. They successfully stopped the vehicle with stop sticks, but Deaton managed to run away. Deaton then allegedly went into a convenience store at approximately 4:15 a.m. and held the store clerk at gunpoint, retrieved the clerk’s car keys, and shot him. The clerk was in critical condition.

"The innocent victims in this, it's a heartbreaking situation," Bailey explained, "that's what makes this case different to me." Deaton was also accused in the late Wednesday or early Thursday strangling death of his girlfriend, Heather Robinson, 30, in Rankin County, Mississippi, the Thursday evening shooting death of Brenda Pinter in a church in Neshoba County, and the Friday morning shooting of a jogger in Rankin County. Robinson sent her friend a "Happy Birthday" text message at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, after work. Later in the conversation, Robinson told her friend that she and Deaton had split up, MSNEWSNOW reported. "He didn't want to let her go," said Bailey, "he was in a fit of rage, killed [Robinson] and that's how everything went downhill." The suspect was said to be armed and extremely dangerous to the public and to law enforcement, and reportedly was spotted in Oklahoma over the weekend. The reward for information leading to Deaton’s arrest was raised to $30,000 yesterday. As of now, Deaton is charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault in Rankin County, Mississippi. District Attorney Michael Guest said charges could be raised.

My brother in law's ex held a knife up to a 9 year old. She threatened to kill herself if she lost custody.

Ain't nobody called the cops for that bitch, let her kill herself.

In your case, I'd call the cops.

I'd call the police. Documentation can be made for a restraining order, if the girlfriend wants to, against the boyfriend. And also a trespassing order at work, if necessary.

I've had 3 former employees threaten to kill me.
