If they've been diagnosed as mentally ill then we already have laws in place for that. If not, it's not up to joe blow on the street to decide who is mentally ill or not. I don't want this to lead to having to get a doctors note to buy a gun.

I'm pro-2A, but there should be some kind of required course before purchasing a firearm.
Problem is it would create somewhat of a database of gun owners.
We must take driver's ed and pass a test before driving in this country, but any dumbass can buy a firearm with zero knowledge.
Right to bear arms is such a double edged sword.

Yes they should. Infringing on something like that is a bad idea. Lots of bad ideas that are framed as good start popping up after a tragic, violent events, and then 10 years later we realize that they were bad ideas.

I think taking cross sex hormones should be the line.
What I really believe is all transgender medicine needs to be banned. So, we do that and you don’t need to worry which they themselves are on what drugs.

If you are mentally ill, you should not be allowed to have guns. It's pretty simple.

Like every other mental disease or disorder, unless they are deemed mentally incapable/incompetent (whatever the legal term is), they should be able to enjoy all rights the normal American citizen has. I would actively vote against any politician attempting to strip second amendment rights from any citizen that would otherwise be able to legally own said firearms.

If there was a way to incentivize course training I would support it. Just thinking out loud but some kind of government voucher or discount for first time buyers if they take a safety course.
