It would make the most sense but first you would need those Governments to invest in the countries more in terms of infrastructure.
I'm sure that Bangledesh has an inferior infrastructure compared to Mexico, as well as other areas where you see manufacturing going on outside of Taiwan and probably some parts of Vietnam. China puts these mega factories out in BFE, iirc.

I have changed my view on this. At this point, it would be easier to monitor the Mexican/central American boarder vs the US/Mexican boarder. Moving manufacturing to Mexico would improve the standards of living, which would help us in the long run.

We are a long way from that. Organizing the border regions into free trade zones is a start.

The thing that the orient offers is population
There are plenty of people in Mexico and connecting countries. Mexico City is the 6th largest city in the world. The population is there but you are correct training and infrastructure are the issues.
Mexico actually has "colleges" where you can go to learn English and how to perform administrative work in order to prepare you to work for American companies. The same could be done for any other industry.

Are you seriously proposing the US should base its foreign policy decisions based off of books of the Bible?

I have been to a few Mexican cities that host American Manufacturing. Torreón for example has a large John Deere facility. It's not a bad city but I doubt it's much further ahead of some of the areas you mentioned. Also, the cartel is still bad there and John Deere even tells its visiting American bosses to only go from the hotel to the factory and back.
I went all over the city numerous times and must say it's a little unnerving seeing one of these patrolling areas.
> I used to go there every few months with a buddy that had an office there. He has since moved the office to Playa Del Carmen for safety reasons and visiting Playa every few months >>> the desert.

One thing that has been posted on here for years is that the US/Canada should really focus on moving manufacturing from Asian countries (especially China) and moving them to Mexico and other Central American countries.
I've felt this way for a long time. Was speaking with someone who deals with getting materials at a large company and they can't believe we aren't moving in this direction. Any cost savings from manufacturing overseas and shipping here is lost in their opinion.

Sounds dumb, would cause the majority of posters here to have a damn stroke though so that’d be fun at least

I base all my foreign policy positions on whether it would cause TD posters’ heads to explode.

Canadians are pussies, Mexicans are poor. No

Mexico yes, but the connecting countries are tiny and prone to hurricanes.
Also, most of Central America is mountainous. That’s generally a bitch to traverse.

It sounds dumb because it sounds like NAFTA, which people oppose for good reason, that reason being it takes away manufacturing jobs from the US, but if they are going to be elsewhere anyway, might as well at least be in our hemisphere.
