Should I leave my son in private school or send him to a magnet school next year

My son will be in the third grade next year and goes to a (not naming the school) private school. He loves the school but we have a magnet school by the house he can go to but I’m worried about the leap test he will have to take in 4th and 8th grade. My wife who teaches at a public school told me over the years a lot of students had to repeat the grade even though making A’s and B’s because of failing the standardized test. I know I when it came to me taking the leap tests and the ACT I never did that great on them. Do you think just keep him in private school if he is happy or bite the bullet and save money and hopefully he does well on the standardized test to advance to the next grade?

If your kid can't pass the leap test, you are definitely wasting your money by sending him to private school.

How do you know he could get into the magnet school? Has he tested and have they released the scores?
I know we never got our magnet scores till like April.

First, don't put your son's education future in the hands of the OT.
Second, if your son can't even pass the 4th and 8th grade standardized test, does it really matter what you do? A burger flipper doesn't even need a HS diploma.

Without knowing the schools and your area, advice will not be really helpful. How much do you need to save the money? Are you really stretching to pay for the school or not?
I always suggest private school over public.

I always come here for the OT’s answer because it’s the only way. My wife wants to keep him in private school but I would like to try the magnet school if he can get in and save some money.

Kids don't get held back from failing state testing anymore.
