People drive through Shreveport and base the entirety of their opinion off of shady interstate-side hotels and gas stations. God forbid you stay in the hotel by Whole Foods, or the Hilton at the convention center. People book a room at the Crackbaby Inn and Suites, see a gangbanger at a gas station and then conclude that the whole town sucks.

People who do no research and dont stray from the interstate.

Shithole. We also stopped there on the way from Atlanta area to Austin for the UGA/UT game. Very depressing place.

I'm sure there are fine facilities for special education to keep you occupied.

There is a Holiday Inn Express is South Shreveport that is in a good area. It is not on the interstate and is in a good place to stay.

Home2Suites by Hilton and the Hampton in SW Shreveport are both fine.

Everything on I 20 sucks. Anything by the airport really sucks.

We are traveling to Dallas, and decided to stop in Shreveport last night because it was a good stopping point 6 hours from home. I should have asked you guys ahead of time like I did last year when we went to Kenner. Is the whole city a ghetto, or did we just pick the wrong part off the interstate to stop?

Should of just went to Longview

pretty much does, pains me to say it/see it, I grew up there and it's pretty depressing to see what it's become

Yep. There still are some nice areas but they are shrinking.

This is not true at all. There are numerous Marriot chains like courtyards, residence inns, springhills, plus Hilton downtown, Homewoods off I20

I was going there recently and exited off to get gas and call my friend for directions. He said you are in the ghetto and shouldn't have stopped there. Proceeded to drive and meet him and the place he considered nicer was the exact same.

I learned a long time ago not to judge a city based on what you see from the main interstate/highway through town or (in Europe) from the train.

Those areas are usually industrial, with any residents in the area in the poor/criminal category.

Only a few towns have their nicer neighborhoods and restaurants adjacent to the railroad tracks or Interstate.

So don’t judge Monroe or Baton Rouge by what I see from the interstate?

Both are REALLY bad from that view.

Everything along I-20 is bad. As said Bossier City is better. Just about any city in the south over 100,000 is not good. The key is to find the right suburb town to stay in. I travel to Memphis for work, but only stay in the outer suburbs.
