Its funny how people on this board can come together and help someone out but yet other times it can seem that 90% of posters lack a shred of understanding or compassion.

I’m in a private small standalone ER/Urgent care with 3 locations. I know you couldn’t get them at first but I also don’t know If owner does not want to pay to use new mask everyday.... so we have to ration. I just treat patients, stay out of the politics. I know I’m at risk though because we don’t even have enough to give to patients anymore

Yet they are available.

I know at our home if each person was fed individually and not at a table of 3 or 4, it’d take literally all day just to feed them. Not sure how my home is handling meal time as far as if it’s dining room or in their room.

We are having absolutely zero problems getting PPE at this point.
Not sure what their issues are.

Scruffy isn’t part of the purchasing, but it came up in our recent dept meeting.

there are less than 5
they are already not getting meals in a timely manner (breakfast at 10, lunch at 1 & dinner between 5 & 6:30)
Which is fine, it’s understandable but if infectious disease was such a huge deal at a nursing home you would think they would stock pile supplies & wear gloves when there was a pandemic going on
Can someone explain the point of masks when gloves & gowns aren’t also being used?

Nurse, they aren’t even wearing gloves to serve meals or meds where my Grandpa is at
They are still feeding all of the people that can’t feed themselves together & still have the community coffee / lemonade / water stations up
Have you voiced your concerns to them? Ask to speak to their infection preventionist.
Many LTC (long term care) facilities didn't have their own infection preventionist on staff cause they were not mandated to. This was just recently mandated by CMS in 2019 and wasn't enforced until end of 2019. So now they are supposed to, by CMS, have someone on staff dedicated to this role. Problem is....many of them don't have much IP experience to begin with(many just thrown into the role) and then bam...a pandemic hits.

I’m an ER doc and received an email from my employer that we have a looming shortage of PPE, especially N95 masks. Still got yelled at by some uppity nurse manager for wearing a single N95 (covered with a surgical mask) all shift despite it being a CDC recommendation. My hospital hasn’t even been hit hard by this yet and we are hiding masks in said nurse’s office. Doc in Seattle just got fired for speaking out about the lack of protective equipment. When the Chinese are wearing full on space suits and we are fiddle fricking with surgical masks and N95 shortages with many docs resorting to buying their own PPE from Lowe’s, one starts to get a little nervous.

I'll let you know if I can get some set aside from the orders we are currently working to place.
Eta:took my email down so I don't start receiving a bunch of gay midget porn. Let me know if you need it again.

You've touched me. I'm going to build a n95 manufacturing facility now.

He doesn’t want us to complain
When I found out he was using the community sugar dispenser I fussed him & brought a canister of sugar & dropped it off to him
I’m sure they just put someone into that role, it usually takes days to get a response from the nurse with normal concerns, the head nurse is a part time position, I am sure we wouldn’t get a straight answer if we tried to ask questions now

I don't imagine you're getting many cases in the middle of nowhere.

The lack of masks and ventilators is terrible. This shite should have been taken care of months ago and we'd be South Korea. Working, eating in restaurants, kids in schools. Instead, we have this shite show and probably a global depression. #ThanksOrangeMan.

Please don’t think I’m being rude by asking this but are all nurses / staff wearing PPE?
Do nurses / doctors that aren’t seeing / treating Covid patients need all the special gear?
