Exactly.

In my personal opinion, the creation of the social media platforms and their spread throughout society is one of the worst inventions in the history of mankind.

The negative impacts of these inventions are breathtaking.

Ahh thanks.

I can't tell what's worse. Trolling over a mass shooting or that these events are so common it's not an obvious troll.

How are you going to do that?

You may need fencing for existing campuses that are spread out. New schools would be easy to design for.

It's horrible. I've been meaning to delete Facebook for the longest time. I never really use it except for on timehop to see what I was doing in years past.

The only platform I use is this one, and it is largely anonymous.

What?

"Bullying" used to be a sanctioned rite of passage.

Social media can make it bad today, but there's no real indicator that all these kids who claim bullying are being harassed on social media.

Not really. Doing this would greatly increase cost and the amount of land needed for new schools. W/public school budgets getting decimated due to student loss to charters (who won't have to follow any new regulations) there simply will not be the money for it.

I can see it now

Sorry kids, we were going to build a great chemistry lab but since we need guard towers and prison fences we are cancelling science. It's just a bunch of liberal hooey anyways! In other news, we are pleased to announce our new $70 million 25k seat football stadium!!!

Kids who are relentlessly tormented don't see it as a rate of passage. Hell, we had that Houston guy try to ruin his bully's life 40 years later.

Lol

quote:

Teens’ use of electronic devices including smartphones for at least five hours daily more than doubled, from 8 percent in 2009 to 19 percent in 2015. These teens were 70 percent more likely to have suicidal thoughts or actions than those who reported one hour of daily use.

In 2015, 36 percent of all teens reported feeling desperately sad or hopeless, or thinking about, planning or attempting suicide, up from 32 percent in 2009. For girls, the rates were higher — 45 percent in 2015 versus 40 percent in 2009.

In 2009, 58 percent of 12th-grade girls used social media every day or nearly every day; by 2015, 87 percent used social media every day or nearly every day. They were 14 percent more likely to be depressed than those who used social media less frequently

You're saying that's got nothing to do with bullying?

Putting 2+2 based on limited info.

He played JV ball last fall and seemed to be a contributor.

One post mentioned coaches involved in this 'bullying'.

Spring Training at HS's around the country just wrapped up.

I can recall High School Spring Training can be a bitch for JV kids moving up and trying to make a name for themselves on the varsity squad. Coaches and upper classmen gave us hell physically and verbally for 3 weeks.

Certainly no excuse for his rampage. Just a thought since nothing else people are posting is making sense today.

Maybe not on the formats us dusty olds use but kids have way more than twitter, facebook, and insta available to them now.

Don’t forget drug use. And I’m not only talking abut illegal drugs. Most of the kids who have done this shite have been on antidepressants or other prescribed mind altering drugs for years.

Yes. BUT. Designed so you can exit but not get back in.

That's how arenas and shite are done now to keep cheapskates from getting in.

Make the glass bulletproof and doors one-way(unless you have keys). Voila!

Exactly. Most people think they are rights given by the government.

They are not.

They are inherent rights that the government is not allowed to interfere with.
