Enclose them like prisons.. with big arse inexpensive around the property line. put little fireplug stumps every few feet to stop vehicles.

I agree that something needs to be done and that these kinds of options need to be explored, but this would be a logistical nightmare for most schools.

I do think that every new school being built needs to be built with these things in mind.

What’s the shooters name?

Could we please take this out of the top replies. What does it matter what the murderer’s name is? All it does is glorify him and create more mass shooters in response. Don’t say his name.

UPDATE 2:10 p.m.: Gov. Greg Abbott is speaking in Santa Fe. He says 10 people are dead and 10 wounded. Two federal search warrants are being sought to find explosive devices at two residences. There is also a search warrant out for Pagourtzis' vehicle. He had written in journals and on his computer that he wanted to commit the shooting and commit suicide afterward, Abbott said.

This LT gov is speaking about what someone posted earlier.

Change the dynamics of the school and their entrances.

Time to get creative.

Have an upvote for addressing the why instead of just the how.

According to people like Kibbles, comments like these are the same as death threats.

A school needs multiple exit points. You could obviously lock the exit points such that you can only exit the building from them, but many high schools have classrooms in multiple buildings and students need to be able to get to one building from another in between classes. One entry point makes sense if the school is entirely contained within a single building, but there are many schools that are not configured this way.

Good questions.. I'm sure there are ways around it.. I agree with the exit doors being only able to open out.

Not sure about multiple buildings.. etc.

I'm interested to know where these shootings took place in terms of location on the property of the school.

Anything about this kid's parents? They must be sick to their stomach knowing their son killled and wounded so many innocent people.

Okay? That doesn't mean kids in school aren't bullied. Far worse than in you or I's time.

You used to be able to escape it after school, but with social media, that isn’t the case anymore.

It's possible for kids to be bullied from the moment they wake up to the moment they go to bed.

People who think kids are just softer today are wrong.
