I haven't signed off on anything. Again, I see you haven't read the thread. The contractor is supposed to contact me in a couple days. I was told that when they come I can "make decisions on items I don't think I need"
I started a thread on this yesterday going into more detail of my experience.
My point is that I have very little they can do to my house. I didn't wait around for this program. I literally did exactly what they are claiming to do. I set up my sink with 2x4s; I got a mini fridge; I changed the receptacles; I put up all the Sheetrock; I replaced a toilet. My thread had pics if you don't believe me.
Yet after all of that, they found $8k worth of work to do? And now you're questioning me?

Yes the prices are inflated, but the contractors have a higher overhead right now since the crews are working 7 days a week. Also, a lot of people are getting entirely new HVAC systems, water heaters, and water filtration systems cleaned, etc. So when the crew is done it does not seem like a lot of "work" has been done, but they have new appliances installed (which would cost several thousand).
I am not saying the price inflation is completely justified, but some homeowners are getting substantial work done from this program.

Jesus Christ people I NEVER fricking said the shelter at home programs SHOULD or DOES pay for perminant repairs. I said the 400 million FEMA put into the program was a waste because people have to go back after the fact and tear 100% of the 15 thousand dollar "repairs" out. The program while In theory sounds great, it's a giant waste and a scam to pad pockets of selective contractors

Also it's not that the contractors will do $15k of work. The $15k amount is the limit of immediate repairs to be eligible. If the repairs to make the home "safe and livable" are more then you aren't eligible. Few homes should come close to the full $15k in immediate repairs if they are already gutted.

People who signed up for the program: it sucks and is a waste of money. Doesn't do what it claims.
People who live outside of LA: but it sounds so good. You must not understand. Lower your expectations first and just be happy at your useless service. Contractors and inspectors making a little extra money is fine.

How many people were at your place "cleaning" and how long were they there? I'm interested in how much labor and cleaning supplies $8K will get you.

You mean the fact that this program is for temporary repairs? Yeah we already knew that and nobody was saying it wasn't. Thanks for setting the record straight... not sure what we would have done without all your fact checking greatness.
