all I'm saying is that they could have appropriated those funds much better. hell you all that say a trailer is worse have no freaking clue. a "fema" trailer would be much better and cost nearly the same.

I'm so sorry, terd. 
They haven't done the work yet. I'm supposed to get a call from the contractor within a couple days. They were just openly talking about the amount of money they could get out of it. Like I said yesterday, these two were not quiet about their purpose of doing as much pointless work as possible.

Yeah, they may SPEND $500 but they charge $5000. The "help" that they have doing the work is laughable at best.

I don't discount that......another reason we left this one alone was the sheer number/pace and realities of being able to pull it off correctly.

I don't need anything from these people according to their standards. They are literally only coming to "clean and sanitize" my home. They threw on a bunch of crap like "test" plumbing and electrical just to charge more. Hell, if I wanted my house cleaned, I'd run down to the coursey Home Depot at 5 AM and grab a few guys for $50 or just head to the local church on saturday and ask for a couple volunteers. But instead YOU and I are paying LA contractors 20 times the typical cost for parts and labor for shite work. So yeah, I'm going to bitch a little.

It's to get people into their homes while they make repairs. Write them a check or giving them cash may not accomplish that.

That may be true....but given the scale of this disaster, inflated prices for work and some abuse should be expected. I'm guessing the state wants speedy work above all else, and are not watching these contractors very closely.

He's bitching about shitty work and the program not doing what it claims to be doing while at the same time wasting thousands of dollars. I have a 2 yo old son and wouldn't let him live in a home that's still be worked on by contractors in rooms without walls only because a sink is installed by 2x4s and a bathtub has been cleaned. It's a joke of a program no matter how you look at it.

There's 110,000 damaged homes in Louisiana. This is a government contract after a disaster in an area with massive demand for home repair work.
